When are these babies coming out !! I have seen online that they are supposedly out Jan. 201, but can't find them anywhere. Tire rack shows them being available in March.

Tire Rack says rears are available end of January and fronts March 1. Cheaper than the super sports! I know what my summer gift will be to myself!

YEs...that is what surprised me too..they are almost $30 less than the outgoing model..that will change pretty soon i bet. I am in the market for a rear set anyways and I think I am going to jump on these ASAP and wait until march to install when the fronts come out. How the hell do they determine front or rear anyways )

I hope that guy is a paid advertiser/promoter for Michelin. If not, WOW - he is a serious TIRE GEEK.

I doubt he's on Michelin's payroll, he's just a bit of a geek -- he has a lot of really good videos about car engineering.

FWIW, I've seen some recent (private) comments of former professional race drivers testing the 4S. It appears to be everything everyone is saying about it (and more).

I wonder about uneven tire wear being that the tire is comprised of two different compounds. (Inner & outer part of the tire).

I'm sure that's something they've tested. Likely the two compounds have equal wear ratings.

No doubt Michelin is the most respected tire manufacturer and these look like very good 100% street tires (Max Performance Summer). Highly recommended for most Jag owners.

However, if you track / autocross / or drag, and you want the fastest street"able" track tires, get a set of Bridgestone RE-71Rs. They come is sizes 245/35 and 295/30, and cost much less. These are in the recently invented "Ultra Performance" class of tires - which are DOT street legal, with rain grooves, but soft compounds like slicks. Michelin's version are called Cup 2s. The RE-71s are substantially faster than even Cup2s.

I maintain track times on another forum for another brand. Across the board, posters who switched to the cheap RE-71s all are experiencing personal best times.

My only point is that if you are going to be buying tires for general use (summer), these new Sport Pilot 4s look like your best choice.

If you are going to be buying to get more grip and braking, and quicker times, go with the RE-71Rs.
