17Jag: You're not alone - I think that's the angle that many of us like the most. Also, that IRR is pretty stunning. I can't understand why they no longer offer it.

Do you know how many 4 cylinder "luxury brands" are on the road today? The chances are that the next Mercedes you see in Toronto today is one of them.
And I hate Mercedes for that reason too, that's the reason I won't buy another Mercedes

Not a snob here, so could care a less that a base model F-Type looks like my R. I look at the driver with respect. He/she was smart enough to keep with their budget. Just the same way I could be driving a Huracan, but it would make no financial sense as it would be a strain, and therefore stressful.

The 4-cyl Mercedes turbos are a technical marvel and I appreciate them. Running to 475hp with a safe tune.

I did not even know they were going away from it - I guess I got lucky with my '17!

Default Fully agree

The F Type is primarily my wife's car and our weekend car. For our type of use, the Base Premium made the most sense, and its a case of what feels comfortable to drive - for her, 340 hp in a light car, was plenty of power, so to each is own. Well said Burt. We could easily have gone up two notches, but really did not feel the need to.

Sorry, but just because Jag sells "lower" price points does not diminish the value or the brand in my eyes. I own a F10 BMW that is right in the middle of the price range for BMW sedans, and could not be happier.

Heck, maybe I'm wrong. I thought I'd read somewhere that they were moving to land rover colors. Firesand and IRR were mentioned as a couple of the colors that were going bye-bye.

The lower price point vehicles for Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Audi pay the freight for the top of the line models. When you buy from the larger production marques you also get the dealer/service network and (for me) the much needed reliability. The aforementioned marques, and with the F Type, Jaguar, give me everything I want in a car.

It isn't the fault of Mercedes, Jaguar, BMW, Porsche or other similar upscale premium brands. You want to drive a marque that only wealthy people can drive then you need to stick with the brands that don't make cars for the masses; Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, McLaren, etc.

....this says much more about how you feel the car makes you appear to others than it does about how fun it is (or isn't) to drive.

Cheers,
Dave

I was thinking about this the other day, for the price range there is absolutely nothing that can compare to the f type, now if we move up a little bit... the huracan takes the cake.

Nice car but "if we move up a little bit"? .....the Huracan is $370,000.00 here. I'd hate to see what "move up a lot" is! LOL

thats exactly what I did, and it's not about others when I buy a car part of the experience is the brand name it carries it's like buying a Rolex you can buy a $100 watch that do the same thing but it's a sign of achievement for yourself

a 580 Huracan here is 220k as opposed to an svr at 140k, the performante is 300k which is the fastest track car available now. Your lambo dealer is ripping you off!

....and that's fine, I suppose but it's still a) unfair to compare two cars when one costs 3X as much; just isn't relevant and b) whether or not the brand makes you feel special isn't relevant to whether the car is fun to drive or not IMO

The prices I've quoted are in Canadian dollars and it is what it is......and I'm not comparing the SVR vs. the Huracan, I was comparing the price of a base Huracan to a base F type to show how different the pricing....and therefore the target audience is.

The 12c is high horses at high rpm, but doesn't compare the the SVR in low-midrange torque. For the street, I'd take my V6S MT over the 12C. For the track, I'd take the 12C over the SVR.

Looks like a great little car....but correct me if I'm wrong but they don't make them anymore? last year was 2014.....new one is the the 650S and here that car costs $350,000 for a used 2016 model and the SVR starts at $142,000...

Still seems like an extreme case of apples to bananas to me.

There are tons of great cars out there, but I don't think it's fair to compare the F type to cars costing 2.5 - 5 X as much.

If money is no object, I'd like to have a Ferrari 488 Spider.....found a used 2016 model with low mileage for only $ 459,000.00
