Default Now I'm Concerned

The car now has a new issue. When backing up in the morning, on smooth pavement, it makes a sound like a golf ball knocking about in cigar box. Not too loud. Not evenly spaced and sometimes, not at all.
I emptied the car out of everything, including the privacy panel in trunk. If I drive it fast in reverse and slam the brakes, I get one thump.

The car has a new DIF installed a couple months back and this noise seems to have arisen since then.

It is not the rear-end noise that has something to do with shocks. Mine does that too!

Frankly friends, I wonder if this what delaminating body panels sound like..

The dealer has not even responded to my email telling them about this.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Don't think zebras.

If I recall correctly, your car has a history if differential issues. This is very likely the next chapter. My bet they failed to install driveshaft correctly and there is now a shot bearing somewhere due to driveshaft lash.

Schedule an appointment, go on a test drive (reverse?) with a mechanic, take out dealer-offered loaner and don't accept your car back without a test drive to ensure it was fixed.

Questionable customer service not to respond, but quite honestly the only proper response would be to ask you to bring the car in to them. Remote diagnoses should be left to us clairvoyants on the forum.

Ah yes the "Magic 8-ball" approach! Works every time.

Or otherwise stated. Just wait till something brakes! Then you'll have no doubt what to fix. LOL!
