Default Oil Change

Hi Guys,

Quick question, I know our first service is at 16,000 miles for oil change. Since my engine is new (2017 F Type-R) do you guys think that I should have my oil change before the service?

I'm currently at 4,000 miles and I drive this car really hard. Thanks guys!

Yes. Theoretically unnecessary , but a nice bit of insurance just after the break-in period.

Hi Unhingd,

How much do you think it will cost me if I do it in the dealership? Thanks!

Did you had your oil change before the first service (16,000 miles)?

Thanks!

Don't know. For $100 of oil and filter, I always do it myself berween the free service cycles.

For sure, I'll give Newport a call tomorrow and check how much it will be.

You should change oil, especially first time, much earlier than service interval. Especially if you drive your car hard.

Typically, dealership will attempt to sell you service package. You need to tell them that you _ONLY_ want an oil and filter changed.

My first oil change was free, as I did it at one year (7400 miles). I paid around $290 at the dealer for the 2nd one.

Mine is in use since 12th of May 2017, in this 10 days just did the first 300 km. But the car, although new, has stayed parked for a while prior to shipment and I will go for a very early oil change at around 2000 km to avoid any risk, then again a very early oil change at max 5000 km, then will go for the ordinary each 1 year or 10000 km range for filters and oil change and for the rest following the book. Where I live is a dusty place and for the air condition filter and air filter I do always at 5000 km. This has always helped me with every car I owned or used. Especially big engines

As I understand it, the air filters are tough to change, unfortunately. I'll find out in a few weeks how much it costs, as my 4-year service is coming up.

Car is in for scheduled maintenance today. Checked my oil level last night, and was pleased to see it was still at the 'full' mark after 9000 miles.

Wow, that's cheap. Did they use Castrol Edge Pro?

I didn't ask, but I would think a Jaguar dealer would use the approved oil for their car.

My dealer didn't use the recommended Castrol Edge Pro for the first two oil changes. They used Castrol Edge for one of them, which is cheaper. Just an FYI.
