Oil change help needed.
Dear all, and especially the oil gurus here.
I changed the oil and filter in my 3.0 S exactly a year ago—Miles covered during this past year are less than 1,000.
I live in a country with low humidity, and the car is always garaged. Can I stretch the oil change for a bit longer? And if yes, how much longer?
Thank you for your informed answers.

Well, it depends... depends on what brand oil you have in the car and possibly, how dirty your environment is. Generally speaking, oil over a year old is OLD. What you can do is change it this year (I do mine annually in April after about 3-5K miles) and send the extracted/drained oil out for analysis.
I use Blackstone for my F oil analysis and my old 1947 Chris Craft's 6 cylinder Hercules. They will send you free test kits, then you pay for the analysis. I have been using Liqui-Moly and in my April 2025 analysis, Blackstone indicated that I could stretch out my change interval in the F. I don't think so. Oil is relatively cheap, and cheap insurance for a healthy engine.

Thank you for your reply,
I use the Jag-recommended oil, and I have recently switched to K&N air filters. Unfortunately, I have no access to oil labs in my country. BTW, I have an oil catch can installed the moment I bought it.

If it was me I would generally try to keep it to a year if you are trying to keep this car a long while. If it’s isolated circumstances then I wouldn’t lose much sleep if you went a bit longer. You’re still way ahead of the Jag recommended interval ;-0
How much longer would be based on the expected mileage that you'd put on during that time and under what circumstances. The same principle applies to the 1000 mile that you put on since the last oil change. Driving style and driving conditions may extend or reduce the oil life span.
