Default Leaving oil in or is it low?

I've changed the oil twice so far in my '15 using the Mityvac. The first time all I could get out was 6.7L and that allowing for some in the filter. The next time was 6.5L. Assuming the oil levels were fine before the change (I checked before the second change and it said they were perfect), whats the deal with not pulling all 7.1L out? I guess im going to do it the old fashioned way next time.

If you have an AWD R, the oil capacity is 6.5L.

just noticed you have a 2015 which is RWD…a drain plug oil change is probably well advised.

If you want to see how much oil is not removed with the vacuum method you can check it yourself. First use the vacuum method. Then get under the car and remove the oil drain plug. I did this and the tiny bit of oil that came out the drain plug convinced me that there is not enough difference to worry about.

Same thing. I have done BOTH ways. Top and bottom. 2016 AWD R. No difference in the amount of fluid that came out. I have never done the drain plug method since....

If you are getting only 6.5 - 6.7 litres out, and assuming you are putting the full refill amount of 7.25 litres back in, then most of that missing .55 to .75 litres is going somewhere.
Possibly either leaking out or being burnt up.
So it's a good idea to try the sump plug test (to see how much comes out after using the extraction pump) as you can then check for oil leaks after taking the undercovers off. Not enough just to check for oil drips under the car / on the garage floor as the cover(s) catch a lot before it starts dripping.
If no sign of any oil leaks then there is a chance the engine is burning oil, so check for excess bluish smoke at start up and under load.
Or are you adding back only the amount which came out?

I only put back in what I took out each time. There is zero smoke and zero drips under the car. It should be showing low, but the computer says its fine. No worries. Ill empty from top and bottom next time and put this to bed.

Maybe you have been doing it wrong - not loosening the filter canister before and during the oil extraction?

At the risk of revealing my analness, I performed a study while changing my oil this time. I first checked the oil level and the car showed it as perfect. I then let the mityvac do its thing. It pulled out only 6.2L. I then removed the drain plug. Literally not 1 drop came out. So I've verified that I'm pulling it all out via the mityvac and that I'm burning about 0.2L every 5,000 miles. Also, from the handbook it appears the car won't show a problem on oil until its 1.5L low. I only put 7.0L back in so it should be 0.2L from full. So the question is, do I have a problem? I've never done anything near this level of measuring when changing oil on any other car, so everything I've ever driven may use this much oil (or more) and I just never knew it. The car does not smoke and there is nothing on the concrete. What say you?

If my car used .2L every 5K miles I would not worry about it. Just too small of a quantity.
Now when I did the Texas Mile and took it up to 180 mph 5 or 6 times. I did use about 1/2 a quart. I thought that was pretty normal considering the operating conditions.

I agree with monitoring but not worrying about it. My wife's Land Cruiser has been burning about 3/4 quart of oil every 5k mines since about 50k miles and it's just about to hit 150k. I've had other cars that have never burned a drop.
