OK I'll ask: how do people work on the front of the engine? remove the bonnet/hood?

Searched around, saw nothing. Maybe I missed something.

Only had the car a week, but...seriously. I did not think about it until now. How do people work on the front of the engine? or do they make bonnet/hood removal a standard procedure?

The only work I've done myself on the front of the engine was the lower supercharger pulley, and I did that after removing the plastic panels underneath. I suppose it would depend on the part I was replacing.

Being 'Vertically challenged' I actually found it easier to sit on the engine and reach down as I'm not tall enough to stretch over and have enough 'reach' to get further than the oil filler cap!

To be fair, they both could be true but I defer to Tel.

What "work" are you referring to?

I did check the Urban Dictionary:
vertically challenged
someone who is short.
also known as a midget, a dwarf, the little guy, etc.
man: haha look at that smidget!

AnywayI was having problems spelling attittoodinally, so went for the easy option. Both can be true at times ;-)

For me it was...Belt tensioner release. Checking backlash on the SC snout coupler...generally things that are in the centre.

But altitude is to do with height, vertical is to do with upright. Urban dictionary is obviously created by illiterates.
Next you'll be saying horizontally challenged means tall (the logical complement to vertical)!

well, anything that has to do with the front of the engine... maintenance; water pumps, radiator pulls, temp sensors, cam position sensors, hoses, you name it. Plus, your sig answers one of my questions: "why do they make a lower crank pulley and spin all the accessories faster just so they can also spin the supercharger faster"? I've never seen that before.

Answer: One reason I can think of is because installing a SC pulley is a PITA, because of the bonnet. People do the crank pulley from underneath, which is relatively easy. (I've seen the posts) I know they make upper SC pulleys, as well, but I have a better idea why they make a SC crank pulley.

I used to own and operate a 300zx modification and maintenance shop: MWS Motorsports. You can look it up on YouTube, or as my name "slkttop". That is what got me thinking.

This forum cracks me up... ;-P. For the record, I am 6'4" and this still concerns me. When I go see the dealer to look at my gas filler pipe, I'll look around to see if there's any F-types in there, and also, ask them.

A lot can be done with the bonnet in place, but swapping upper SC pulley will go much easier with it removed. Work on lower part of engine requires pan removal as already said. Depending on which of the 5 radiators, both bonnet and nose might require removal. When removing the bonnet, mark bolt positions to make alignment easier when reattaching.

Correct...If I could stand at 45 degrees, my apparent height would be less than it already is, so Vertically challenged is ambiguous, however sounds better than Shaw 'Tarse!

If one was 'horizontally challenged', one might struggle to slide under ones' car if using a 'guzunder' for example - that's girth!

Therefore the option to change the lower pulley is out of the question - unless one raises the vertical component of the car.

So to my illiterate understanding, it is a perfectly logical complement to me being Vertically challenged, whereupon I can't get to the can of WD40 on the second shelf without the use of a leg up at 45 degrees or stood straight up! :-)
