Default Order Call Open for 6 Speed

As of two days ago, the order system is accepting orders for the 6 speed. After 4 months I finally have an order number. My dealer claims a May build and June delivery. ( I'm skeptical given the current delays and dealer misinformation)

We're all rooting for a May delivery for you, Lance.

Greatly appreciated. I'm being CAUTIOUSLY optimistic. I'd be real happy with an early June delivery. (june 6 birthday present).

Lance,

I also have my fingers crossed for an early summer delivery for you. I need a cruising buddy, and I can't wait to drive the manual. I suspect they'll be as rare as hen's teeth at dealers, so a test drive there won't be likely. I'm counting on you!

I agree that dealers will reluctant to stock 6sp, unless Jag forces them to!

Exactly, and given Lance's kind offer, I may very well end up ordering a manual depending upon my experience in his car. As much as I am impressed with how good the ZF 8-speed auto is, and how fun the paddles can be, I'm still missing the feel of a manual sports car. I don't care if it's slower to 60, 100, or has slower lap times. If you've had manual sports cars in your system for 30+ years, no matter how good an autobox is, it's just not as much fun. It's almost good enough to make you forget, but not quite.

I have no regrets about buying the auto, I enjoy it very much, and it was time to see what everyone was raving about. However, after a couple of years, I may have to go back to what I know and love best.

My dealer has 6 2016 F-Types on order; all are automatics. I am watching for a manual. I have to drive one.

If they ever make a manual available in the R --- I will trade my 2016 R in a heartbeat.

I'm wondering if someone will eventually build an adaptor bell housing for the V8 and Tremec tranny (perhaps the only one that can handle that power). The required interior mods (pedals and console) could be pulled from the V6 Manual car.

Is this a nation wide thing? I just came from my local Jaguar dealer Galpin Jaguar in San Fernando Valley, California. They claim the system is currently not taking orders for the 2016 F Type 6 Speed Manual. I left my information and they said that they will get back to me in a couple weeks.

At the moment the actual order book is not yet open on manual F Types. lhoboy has found a way to work around that, and place an F Type order in the system that will get morphed into a manual. For the rest of us, we are still waiting.

My intel says possibly first week of April.

Orkney.
