Default P0480-11 code. Bad fan controller?

Hi,

I can’t find the scource for a P0480-11 code, which triggers the fan to be constantly.

I just rebuild the engine and everything was out of the car, including most of the wiring. Since everything was installed (except the bumper/bumperharness) this happened. Must be related to the installation, it didn’t do it before the rebuild.

I looked at the wires and and I can’t find a problem there. Now I think the only option is to buy a new fan. But is there something else to look for?

thx

Adam

What is available voltage across the battery terminals with the ignition in the OFF position for thirty minutes or longer?

Check pins in connectors to ensure there aren't any bent or not making proper connections. ECM/PCM controls the cooling module earth/ground.

The schematic is quite confusing, until you realize there are either two 850W fans (hot markets), or two 500W fans (rest of world)

Thx. So it might be missing a ground or it measures a low voltage.

so a lot of measuring….

No, a missing ground wouldn’t do it.

No, the two fans labeled ‘motor-cooling-fan-2’ are 850W, you can see the label on the red VBATT lines. The two labeled ‘motor-cooling-fan-1’ are the 500W ones, presumably what you have. You have one pair or the other.

What you care about are the blue PWM lines. If these are floating (open) or shorted, your fan stays on all the time.

Found it.

Harness was squeezed by the subframe.

Repaired it and problem solved.
