My Fan is not running
Hi,
I found my engine fan is not running. I have tried turning on the AC with defroster but the fan stays still. i check any fuse pertaining to the fan but all are good.
I have monitored my car engine temperature for a very long time. The temperature stay pretty constant at 204 degrees F. After a while, the temperature dips to 199.4 degrees F, but only momentarily. I have only seen the temperature exceed 204 and that was when the dealer cracked the overflow tank.
Q. Does the fan have one or two sensors? One for engine temperature and the other when AC/defrost comes on?
I am sure I can test the fan by direct method, but my problem is, where the heck is the cable? Can anyone tell me? I am told, while standing in front of the car, facing car, the cable is on the right side of the engine. can anyone be a bit more specific on this?
Thanks on any help.

Be careful how you test it as it's driven by a transistorised circuit and computer so you need to know what you're doing to avoid risk of serious damage.
It's ultimately controlled by the PCM and it knows all manner of temperatures.
Yours may not "need" (PCM viewpoint) to be running.
I believe dealer tool can command it on (& the speed).
Check fuses and relays, then wiring...

Wiring and connector for the fan is on the left, bottom side of the radiator(when you are standing in front of the car facing the car). You have to remove the front plastic undershield.
I also have my front bumper and inner fender liners off the car so access is really easy. The wiring harness appears to go throught he fender and not the engine compartment.(I will be working on my car later and will check it).
There is a separate fan control module which is conditioned by a signal from the PCM.I think this module is part of the fan motor.
For testing you should check the Electrical Guide figures 03.1 and 03.2 and go from there.
You should be able to download the Electrical Guide from above. If not let me know and I can send you a zip file.
