Seems to me the transfer case, cv joints and axels will add front end weight to the car and pose an additional future maintenance expense.

I'm in SW Florida, currently running Michelin summer tires on my P300 (LOVE THIS CAR) and will never see snow.

Comments and thoughts are appreciated as I head down this road.

To each their own of course, but I ordered my 2022 P450 with RWD because I prefer to be in total control of my vehicle to the extent possible in light of other modern features that are not optional, such as ABS. The car is two years old now and I've never lost control of it due to any over applications of power. Prior to the 2022 P450 I had a 2018 base model F-Type V-6, 340 HP also with RWD which I would put through its paces on empty parking lots and likewise never had any problem controlling it.

 

I use awd for rain and snow use...and it really is not intrusive at all...the car is rwd unless you need awd...

And frankly, the suspension seems better sorted oddly on the awd..

Maintenance is fluids every 50k miles, so not a big deal - if you can afford an f type you need to be able to afford fluids on a diff and transfer case....it is not expensive or frequent...really silly to call that into quesiton....the rear diff needs fluids too, often in my opinion...these cars make a lot of power.

I'm that guy who drives all winter - rustproofed the steel stuff btw before anyone comments. The car is great in snow.

 

Clarification:

My concern is not maintenance - its repairs once out of warranty.

Understood...most if not all the "power" is to the rear...figure maintenance of the front and transfer case is all that is needed. I have NOT seen a lot of noise on these being issues...the rear e-diff, yes. I have the standard, simple non electronic diff in my v6 with a lsd...it is fine and my mechanic has assured me it is repariable if it were to ever have an issue.... I fluid change it every 30k miles and I don't do standing starts as a rule as that kills diffs. Mechanical sympathy is key to high hp cars imho.

 

AWD for me since it snows where I live. If I lived somewhere always sunny like Florida then RWD would be fine, save me $$ too.

 

Moving forward with the 2023 AWD, 8,500 mile choice, .vs a new 450 2WD

This car is heavily optioned, as was the P300 First Edition, even has 770 watt surround system and windshield defrosters.

Same Fuji White as the current 2021 P300, but has oyster white seat surfaces

Gonna keep my current wheels and tires.

40 months of warranty remain, maybe a light tune is in my future?

I have a RWD P450 and I have never once thought that I wished I had AWD.

 

I have a 2018 R AWD and when I boot it on a bend I often think I've got RWD.
