Hi M.C Phil - checking in on progress. Did you get to fit the prototype on your car?

 

Turned in my Volvo loaner for a Jaguar loaner, car may be a while. The need to replace the telematics module, and it is on backorder... So no, not fitted.

The production surrounds have been ordered, and an initial first article mesh has been ordered. That will take a couple weeks to get in. I know the grille fits, so I'm not worried that I haven't tested on the car yet.

Once I get my car I can finish up the parking sensor mounts, and the access hole for the tow hook.

All going according to plan. Likely available in September due to shipping times, and I will be out of town a bit in August.

 

If those indicating interest could weigh in on a black vs. carbon surround preference (PM is fine), I can see if I can get them delivered that way:

UPS says I will get the first test production part for the grille tomorrow. Can't wait! Surrounds are still over a month away, though, so it will be September before items are ready for purchase. I did switch the order to 20 Black and 10 CF due to the responses I got.

Guess delivery being a month out is good as I still need to design the front sensor mounts and tow hook adaptation, but I need a grille (and a car, damn thing is still at the dealer!) to do that! I will also be out of town 3 of the next 4 weeks, so it may be a while before there is a meaningful update.

 

There's no need to hurry; take all the time you need. It's better to have a high-quality product than rush and compromise its quality.

great initiative and thanks for your work! Actually I am also interested (I am based in Germany) in a glossy black one. I am just not sure about the details yet, maybe you can confirm. In the beginning arround 1000 $ were mentioned but I assume the more people are in, the less cost need to be taken by each one who will order?

Do I get it right that you will invest into a molding tool?

I've been reading about the project 7 grill just happened to see this thread. I'm in, I'll take one if we can get all the sensors and such set.

mcphill, Just touching base: A) Did you finally get your car back and get a chance to enjoy it over the labor day weekend? 2) How are things looking on the grill program? Asking for some friends!

 

still no car : ( I’m going to ask to get it back and return it when the TCM comes in.

CF surrounds are en route, grilles and “roundels” should be soon. Designed the park sensor holders and tow hook circle, but need to test both. Think still on track for September shipping on CF packages. Likely October for black.

If you are still able to take additions, I would like to be added in. I saw this post a while back and then lost it and couldn't find it!!

Black Surround preferably with the tow hook and sensors.
