Default Paddle Shifters

A question for the R owners. Did your cars come with the orange paddles that are on the convertibles or are they now metal? The one I test drove yesterday had the orange ones.

The R that arrived at my dealer had the plastic ignis paddles. The build sheet on my R specifically says Ignis paddles. Mixed feelings. I like the orange color, I just don't like plastic on almost any touch interface. Feels cheap.

I was curious because in the video of Chris Harris testing the "R", they are the metal ones. Thanx.

may be EU spec vs US spec. I certainly don't have a problem with the paddles on my V8S. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that metal paddles can and do get very hot.

Mine has the orange paddles, was hoping to have the metal ones. Agree the feel of those is nicer. Not a big deal but would have been a nice to have. Perhaps you have to spec it at the time of order.

Just went through the configurator and do not see an option for other than the ignis paddles.

The silver metal ones cost you about $450 after market.

I haven't noticed my aluminum ones getting particularly hot. Maybe if left out in the direct sun on a scorching summer day?

Unless you have aftermarket paddles you have the same ones as me. They're not solid metal, and they are rubberized on the back. They will not get as hot as a pure metal paddle. You only have to touch a seatbelt buckle when it's been exposed to direct sunlight to know how hot it can get.....

I really don't think that Jaguar put aftermarket paddles in the car Chris Harris test drove in his video.

I'm not suggesting they did - but the car Chris Harris drove would not be US spec...

As I said in my reply above, it may just be a UK/EU vs US spec difference.

having said that, I just took a look on the UK site and the build configurator for the Coupe R does seem to show ignis paddles and I didn't see any option for a factory alternative.

Mine are whatever is being sold as an official F-Type accessory from dealers.

I see your point though.

The silver aluminum ones are from the XKR-S GT. So they are a Jaguar part, not after market. When I said after market I meant the price because they cost you a lot more when you buy them from Jaguar directly.
