Greetings, Yes ! , I researched and found the painting kit and the video to show the steps, keeping the Calipers installed .
See the photos below...... I kept the F Type Base, silver color.... Step #1 F Type , Base 152. Step # 2, drip pan set Step # 3, layout all items, view video again...... then clean caliper with degreaser and rinse, and flush with cleaning fluid per Kit. Step # 4 Cover caliper and start prepping Caliper with base color, do apply two or three coasts, let Dry for 30 hours per Kit instruction.... do NOT get in a hurry..... Step #5 Getting the Caliper ready for a last coat as needed.... I applied 3 coats thinly with a small brush....Clean off any materials from Caliper... spray cleaners, paint... etc. Step #6 : after a full day to dry.... Do apply Decal , keep the offered front sizes as close to the OEM as possible, Black on the Silver was perfect Step # 7 : I did also clean the inside barrel of the wheel and rinsed with a Griot's cleaners, Ceramic wheel coatings" the finished caliper and wheel looks terrific and the Metallic Silver really works with the silver wheel finish.
Which kit did you choose? G2? I looked at the G2 instructions and it looks like you have to mix all the paint with all the reactor/hardener. Did you do all four at one time? I don't think the mixed paint would keep if the painting was done one caliper at a time.
>> Please Note: The G2™ High Temperature Brake Caliper Paint System Set contains approximately 3 1/2 liquid oz. of paint and approximately 1/2 liquid oz. of reactor, yielding 4 liquid oz. total when mixed,
Greetings, I followed the steps outlined in the video... and did not used the drying accelerator additive. I felt it was a bit risky and opt'd to let it dry for 36 hours. The Video clip was ok... but not detailed enough per cleaning the calipers and ensuring no future paint issues, I felt.
I followed their steps per cleaning and rinsing .... my F Type is a 2016 and the calipers have been not washed before I bought it 3 years ago... so the wheels and barrels were in need of a lot of TLC..... 2-3 hours each to clean them up and then us Griots Cleaners and Ceramic products... good stuff. I used the POR 15" Caliper paint kit in metallic silver". this was a good fit with the wheels, as the photo's show. I did adapt spare Griots' spray nozzles to the prep and clean the calipers and the spray worked best vrs. a wipe on .. as I also brushed it to try... to clean the old calipers..... I did take my time and worked to get the metal as clean a possible... I may used the Griots Heavy Duty wheel cleaning solution first then their spray and rinse of POR 15... just to ensure I get it really clean.
best results, Craig of Denver.
I actually did this recently, used the G2 kit and it came out as good as I had hoped for with the "minimal" prep that I did. That being said I was changing pads and rotors so I actually pulled the brackets off and cleaned them up with a wire wheel on the bench grinder and went to town on the calipers with a wire brush. Didn't do any sanding to get it super smooth and will eventually pull the retainer brackets off and clean them up with new stickers since the original silver looks pretty rough.
The kit allowed me three coats on each corner, light first coat and slightly heavier on the next two. Bonus inclusion of my next center caps as well after much trial and error since they weren't the standard 59mm size....
The Base F 152 used really rough caliper casting. I found my model had little front wheel clearance and the painting worked good as you found per your wheel color , nice.
I did check with my dealer per pricing in their show... omg.... nutty...
Enjoy, Craig
