Default Parking Brake

Hello, my F TYPE R recently required a trip to the dealer that I thought was bad injectors but what turn out to be just bad gas.

Fearing the worst, I had the car towed to the mechanic and had the tow truck driver use the emergency release as opposed to starting the car.

Now that it’s back in running condition, its displaying a parking brake inoperable message on the dash, is this a by product of using the emergency release?

Well, logically yes, and logically it may be that the brake release unit in the console has not been restored to the normal setting.

How do I go about restoring it to the proper setting?

Well, to begin with, look inside the centre console where the emergency brake release is located (under a black panel at the side of the box). Your owner’s manual has the instructions for using this release; presumably you reverse the procedure to lock it again. I cannot comment further because I have never needed to use the emergency release. Sorry.

The manual doesn’t describe a reset procedure unfortunately

Yep, it simply says "Components should be refitted in reverse order".
See attached PDF for the release procedure, sorry if it comes out sideways!
Edit - something screwy going on with my upload, but long story short the attached PDF does contain instructions on how to reset the emergency Park release, my WAG is the OP / tow truck driver / whoever didn't do this.

Looks fine, Oz.

It's worth noting that this procedure was missing from the first model year’s Owner’s Handbook. I have a printout of it that I added to my manual.
