Default Passenger Climate Control Dial not working?

Hey all,

I just picked up my F-Type (totally in love with it already) ... it is in perfect condition except for one annoying issue. I wanted to ask if anyone else experienced this or if I am just missing a setting or something.

Basically the passenger's climate control dial and heated seat controller is not working - when you spin it nothing happens. You can click it to go to the heated seat settings, but again spinning the dial will not change anything. I can control both if they are synced from the driver's side dial.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Did you unsync them, via the climate page on the nav screen?

I did, so I'm leaning toward it being an electrical issue. It's the one thing I didn't check when I was buying the car so of course it's broken

Seems fairly minor though (fingers crossed). It's under warranty it's just a matter of the inconvenience of taking it in and potentially losing the car for a while after just buying it :P

Probably no reason you need to take it in ASAP - other than it may drive you crazy.

That's true. It is driving me a little bit crazy admittedly because everything else about the car is perfect

You can't control the seat heater even if synced so better get it fixed. Something you need in Seattle.

For sure, I will. It's not incredibly urgent since it's usually just me driving and the driver's side heated seats work just fine. But it'll **** me off until it works properly

The module housing the three dials needs to be replaced, and is covered under warranty. On mine the fan dial died.

Do you happen to know how long that took them in the shop for yours?

But....not every F-Type has dual-zone climate control, does it? If the car has the single zone arrangement, is the passeger-side dial still operational?

I have dual zone climate control but the passenger knob will not adjust the temperature or the seat heater

I'm not certain if this will help anyone, but I discovered that if the driver's side is set to "Lo" or "Hi", then that disables the passenger side control dial, even if they're "unsynced". I have to set the driver side to a numerical temp (one degree warmer than "Lo" or one degree cooler than "Hi" in order to allow the passenger to control their own temperature and seat.

My 2017 S apparently does not have the right software, or the right software configuration, to make the dual zone work. It has the two knobs, but the Sync and UnSync option is not displayed in the climate screen. That appears to be the easy way to tell if your car can do dual.

I've been told that all the hardware is there, but it is just a software config setting, and that with the right Jaguar gear that setting can be changed. I'd love to get that done but have not found anyone in California who knows how to do it. Does anyone have a west coast mechanic who knows how?

I found a shop in the UK that can do that but you have to drop off the vehicle to do the upgrade. I have not been able to locate a similar shop anywhere in the U.S. who can do the same thing. California, hmmm, home of pimp my ride cars, you would think some shop would Be able to this mod. There are shops that can program ECUs, swap out entire Electonics, but no one has the ability to upgrade a Jaguar FType embedded software which only needs to be unlocked. There has to be someone out there, well I wish.
