The PPS (Pedestrian Protection System) was introduced with the XK for European but NOT for US specification vehicles.

It is notorious for false (and very expensive) deployments. There are many reports of deployment after going over speed bumps or hitting a traffic cone.

The F-Type installation looks and sounds to be the same. Sensors within the bumper detect a pedestrian collision and initiate a bonnet deployment system that releases the bonnet latches and triggers two airbags to raise the rear of the bonnet by 130mm. This is intended to create a cushion and reduce injury to a pedestrian.

The system is only active with the ignition ON and the vehicle travelling between 12 mph and 31 mph.

Checking JEPC for the F-Type PPS components, I see they are identical to my XK.

The Impact Sensors (item 4) behind the front bumper are prone to failure and trigger a warning message. I had one fail on my last XK. Because the associated DTC's are extended error codes, it requires Jaguar SDD (Symptom Driven Diagnostics) or equivalent to read them.

Good to see that this is not applicable for US-based F-Types!

I had this system turned off by Cambo on my XFR, but not (yet) on the F-Type.
I have read a few reports of false deployment on XFs, XJs and XKs, but I have never read or heard of one on an F-Type.
I suspect the F-Type system is configured differently to be less sensitive.

I took the whole unit off, 1 on the diagram, and just put a cancellation thing on it, it's been about a year and a half no issues

The PPS is fitted to comply with European Type Approval. Disabling or removing it is clearly an option to you in Australia and China. Here in the UK, disabling a manufacturer fitted safety system is highly likely to cause insurance issues in the event of an accident involving a pedestrian.
