Default Picked up MY2018 SVR - checking for software update...

Hi fellow jaaag lovers!

I finally picked up MY18 SVR 5 days ago!
But testing to see if the engine software as been updated by using the dynamic mode test (turn on the car, enable dynamic mode. Turn off the car. Turn it on again. If it’s still in dynamic mode it hasn’t had the update.)

I realized that it have had the software update😪 - Are there any way to get back to the original software or are there an aftermarket solution which makes it sound as it did before the software update?

The software update that altered dynamic mode retention didn't have any noticeable affect on the noise of mine.

Welcome to the forum and Congrats! What color is your SVR? Is it Ultra Blue? From what I have seen from car spotters that I follow on Instagram there is only 1 SVR in Denmark

Hi, and thanks! It’s an amazing car, brings a smile on my face everytime I drive it!!
The car is the SVR only color Scafell Grey, looks amazing! The car just got imported from Germany to Denmark, but it’s pretty fun if there is only 1-2 SVR’s in Denmark.
I’m thinking about how I can check how many there really is. 🤔

Interesting. There weren’t any Scaffell Grey SVRs made in 2018 are you sure it’s not a 2019 model??. What is your serial#? I can look it up and see what info I have for it. I have the VINs of all the F-Type SVRs.
Also Not sure how many have been imported to Germany. But none were originally allocated to Denmark. I would guess there are probably 2. Yours is only the second SVR in Denmark that I have heard of. Here is pic of the other one Someone posted on IG where it says it was the only SVR registered in Denmark.

That sounds weird - but my the VIN number is: SAJDA1BE3KCK60392
I’m 99% that’s from 2018, it says so on the registration papers 🙄
I eager to hear what you can find about the car!

The K at the 10th digit says it's MY19 so was probably built in 2018.

Okay, weird! But then I learned something new - that could also explain why it isn’t as poppy and crackely as I’ve seen on YT before purchase.

Anyway official documents says first registration 30/08/2018 - how can it be a MY19? Did they start making and selling the MY19 in 2018?

Yep! Jaguar starts building a particular MY about 9 months before that calendar year starts. My MY18 has a build date 0f 25 March 2017 and was registered in April 2017. The 10th VIN digit gives the definitive MY. I don't think Jaguar is unique in this behaviour.

I took delivery of my last car, a '19 R, in Sept of 2018. I'm guessing that's not unique.

Question - if I send my (newly discovered) MY19 to service, should I write that they shouldn't update the engine software or won't it make a change because it's a MY19 and the sound have already been lowered?
- Don't want to end up with an even more muted sound from the car after the service

@scm @Ftyperegistry (or anyone else) fellow f-type guys.. I’ve got the car for little over 2 weeks and it’s now asking for a service - I would really love it if you could tip in here with your 2 cents.

The last service was done at 21.000km and the car are now at 30.000, what should I expect the service to include? 🙄

In the UK we can go to https://osh.jaguar.com, type in our VIN and download service sheets specific to the vehicle. Not sure if it'll work for you but worth a try. Regarding the "service due" message, it could be the date that's triggering it - when was the 21,00 km service done?

Before you schedule anything ask for the last maintenance records for the dealer. At the 2 year service mark you’re probably looking at oil change only.

@scm & @Ftyperegistry it worked! I was able to pull up the data.

Now the Jaguar mechanic I talked with wanted to change the oil filter, the pollen filter, 2 air filters and then add about 10liter of new oil.

looking at the records it looks like the pollen filters were replace at the last service (24 month service) and this service that’s due is the 36 month service.
i’m unsure if thats needs replacement then?
as you know I only just got my f-type so i’m rather green in this world, and truly appreciate your insights 👌🏼

I reckon that mechanic is looking to rip you off!
The pollen filter is due for replacement every two years and as it was replaced a bit over one year ago it is not due yet.
Even then replacement every two years is IMHO overkill unless you constantly drive in very dusty/dirty conditions.
It's also a simple five minute job to do it yourself and a new pollen filter is easily and cheaply available on Fleabay etc.
Yes, the oil and oil filter are due for replacement as it is now over 12 months since they were last replaced.
But not 10 litres of oil, your car takes 6.5 litres!
The engine air filters are due for replacement every four years or 104,000 km whichever comes first and therefore they are nowhere near due for replacement on your car. They also cost a fair bit (but again much cheaper on Fleabay or from Rock Auto) and they are a labour intensive job to replace (therefore expensive), which you can DIY if you are at all handy with the spanners.
Last but not least the one thing the mechanic has missed is renewal of the transfer case oil which is due every three years or 78,000 km whichever comes first.
You probably don't really need it done just yet but it's best if you get it done to preserve the warranty just in case something goes wrong in the drivetrain.

Edit - Maintenance Schedule attached. It's for the 2016 model year and yours is a 2019 but I don't think there were any changes and I have never seen or heard of a later version:

@OzXFR Thanks for your 2 cents! That maintenance checklist are golden, I've reached out to the mechanic and send him the lists and overview.
Appreciate your insights!
