Default Project 7 Exclusive "joke"

so reading the post about the P7 being spotted and was frankly disgusted to see that there is P7's available in the US through a few dealerships
why am I angry?
simple, "your car will be ready in September, sorry November, sorry Feb 2016 blah blah problems with the small suppliers they are using"
now I see that the exclusive nature of the P7 is a farce ie oh its a lottery for individuals and you have to nominate the dealership etc
its just a fookin joke, basically some lucky or unlucky person will have a P7 before me and others even though we laid the cash down months ago

really feel like telling them to poke it

understand they are on the roads, I know that, its the fact that they sold this car on the basis that it was not a for a dealership sell, but a lottery to owners
as I say the people who were picked all put deposits down so that Jaguar could hold on to a pile of cash rather than owners accounts.
now they have them for sale in dealerships

mystery

ive sent an email to Jaguar and no surprise, not a word

Here are several at dealerships, which apparently could be bought off the lot...

My dealer GM told me they were indeed all special order by customers in the US, but that the customer must take delivery at a JLR dealership. They just delivered one a few weeks ago.

I suppose it's possible, that as with any special order, someone could decline delivery of a car that they ordered.

I think each region has there own policies regarding the P7.

In Canada where there are only 7 cars available it was also by lottery. We had to pay upfront $20k just to be included in the draw and I have been waiting patiently for more than a year and now being told I will have to wait until January. How am I going to get delivery in January....This is Canada .... who can drive this car in January.

Sounds like in the USA, there was no lottery and dealers were able to purchase for stock. Since there are only 50 cars or less for the USA and 8 are up for sale sounds like dealers bought for resale.

Pure speculation on my part but the Project 7 on cars.com or other sites listed for sell aren't actually in stock, available inventory...they are allocation units.

- a couple may be customer orders who backed out and now available for general sale
- maybe there is a shady dealer that bought one hoping to flip it for markup

but I think the vast majority are actually just available allocation units. If you actually call the dealer they will tell you to put a deposit down and then they will order it for you...
why do I say this? Before the F-Type I was searching for a 991 GT3. Searching on cars.com I saw a bunch of GT3s available, in the color I wanted! I couldn't believe it because I knew they were hard to get. Sure enough, called them, they were all just allocation units. Dealers just putting up inventory to get you to call them...

It would be this one given the poster's listed location, and he said it was a local dealer:

Understandable, but if it is a matter of a customer ordering and backing out, there's not much they can do about it. Customers have the right in this country to refuse delivery, and the only thing a dealer can do is to re-sell it, unless JLR stipulates that they have the right to reclaim a vehicle when delivery is refused by the individual placing the order. Deposits placed are also refundable if a customer refuses delivery.

The other complication is that most U.S. states have laws prohibiting direct manufacturer to customer sales. Those statutes were put in place to promote and protect locally-based businesses.

On the upside, the numbers are still very limited, which means they'll be selling at a premium. So, your investment is still safe.

Default XKR RS GT

Imagine owning the XKR RS GT. I think the P7 will be sitting around in a few dealers quite soon.

Not likely, The XKR-S GT was nothing very special other than limited numbers. Basically a regular XKR-S with an ugly wing on the back.

same power, same everything except some stiffer springs and I think Carbon brakes.

LOL. Yeah. Right. Ask the guy who bought one if that was their perspective.

Whenever a manufacturer says a car is sold out it means the dealers have purchased all of them, not necessarily customers, their are brand new Porsche 918's available, admittingly at a premium over sticker.
