It fits the key like a latex glove, rather tough to get on but once you do it's not going anywhere. 100% cosmetic but the dealer loves it because when the car is in for service he knows exactly which fob in the box is mine.
Fast forward to today. I come home from work and my wife tells me she washed my shorts that were in the bottom of my closet and didn't check my pockets beforehand. My key fob was in the front pocket and went through the entire wash cycle: wash, rinse, spin. She panicked when she saw it, pulled it out and immediately tried it (something I would *not* have done if I were home) and it worked. All functionality works 100%.
It's probably pretty well-sealed anyway, but with the really tight cover on it, it was impenetrable by water. Not that I endorse washing or swimming with your fob, but if you get one of these covers it will certainly help your chances of surviving a moment of carelessness or stupidity.
I can't speak for the Jaguar fob, but it once happen to one of my Corvettes. I had worn a pair of cargo pants which I normally hate, and had dropped the fob in the leg pocket w/o thinking. When I patted myself down I missed that pocket. The fob went through the complete wash and dry cycles, and I didn't notice until it fell out when putting the pants on a hanger. Of course I panicked, but all was well. The fob never gave a problem and I had the cleanest key fob in Georgia.
I have this one with the faux-carbon-fiber and I agree, it's protected my fob from many things and makes it easier to find in the drawer. Adds a little bulk but worth it for me.

Looking for a fob cover for a different reason. Last night the valet at a restaurant dropped my keys and the fob exploded. After kneeling in the street for a while, we were able to find all the pieces.
I noticed everyone lists type “A “ & “B” with a picture of what looks like my fob, (A) but never mentions it fits F Type. Just a bunch of Rovers. Are they the same?
