Appreciate the clarification but isn't my point still relevant? The "buyer" isn't a "owner". They are just a renter and therefore warranty duration may not necessarily need to be revealed if the lease will expire prior to the expiration of the warranty? The point where it would then be introduced into conversation would be in the event that the OP wanted to buy out the residual which would then become the time/place for negotiation of CPO coverage rather than when the lease was signed (which was/is my point). For all I know, the OP bought rather than leased as I have not read the balance of these posts

That has nothing to do with the "free" Elite service packages AFAIK. And obviously if you don't do ANY maintenance by way of oil changes and can prove it I can understand why an engine failure claim would come under very close scrutiny.
My point was that when the car signals "hey service me for free", if you miss that by a month or 1000 miles, then it's no longer Jaguar footing the bill at the dealer, you are. Missing one of the Jaguar dealership appointments because you prefer someone else to do the work isn't of itself going to void your warranty. As I understand it no manufacturer can insist that routine maintenance is done within their dealer network to maintain warranty status.
I only live 15 miles from my Jaguar dealership so its no great hardship letting them do the free servicing, but I can appreciate if your nearest is two hours away you might think differently.

One could buy a car in May of 2016 and have the oil changed when the odometer hit 14,999 miles in May of 2018 and the warranty would remain 100% in effect as the owner/operator DID have the oil changed per the mileage requirements outlined in the warranty. The issue is this arbitrary 1 year period. Changing an oil at 7,500 miles (May of 2017 in this example) is not "necessary" per warranty but it may be necessary in order to retain the "FREE" services

Perhaps the case in your country but I don't think they can enforce the 12-month service period here in the USA but of course, I might be wrong as I am not a lawyer nor do I play one on TV.... If you don't get the humor reference, you are too young. LOL

I'd skio the dealer and go straight to Jaguar. The 2016's 5Y/60K goes to the original owner so it starts the day you buy it. If they say it was pre-owned and thus the warranty started before your purchase, just ask them to certify it and that will extend the manufacturer warranty to 7Y/100K.

Gents, I've been through this, although I was aware that the warranty had started but at the time I thought I year period started at my purchase. As I stated previously, at least in my case and info from my dealer, the car is required (definitely) to be serviced within 12 months, plus or minus one month of the in service date if the mileage is not exceeded. Navy Blue's dealer needs to be held accountable for not revealing the information at selling time as it may have changed Navy's opinion on what the car was worth and if he even wanted to buy it. He is owed something. Also, the car I believe has missed it's one year service interval, while it was in the dealer's possession. Maybe that is some kind of extenuating circumstance because the car was in the dealer's possession. If it is, then the one service interval is BS, as they should be held to their own standard.

Update:
Last week, received calls from both Jaguar USA & dealer's sales manager within 10 minutes apart.
Sales Manager says he'll look into giving me a 1 year extended warranty.
Today, received call from dealer's finance manager. He informed me that they will give me a 72 months (6 years), 75000 miles extended warranty, starting from today, Aug 2, 2018.
I asked him to pls double check that it's 6 yrs from today, & not 6 yrs from orig in-service date o 12/31/2016.
He called called back & says it's 6 yrs from today.
The Jaguar vehicle protection plan declaration page he emailed over says that the coverage starts today, Aug 2, 2018 to Aug 2, 2024, or 75000 miles. Their cost is: $3412
So I still have 3.5 yrs of the orig factory warranty left to 12/31/2021, then extended warranty kicks in for another 2.5 years until Aug 2, 2024.
The Deductible from 1/1/2022 to 8/2/2024 is $250, but is only $100 if repaired at a Jaguar dealership.
So I guess I'm pretty happy with this outcome.
Thanks to everyone's inputs...
