Had me going with that clickbait thread title. I was thinking how can I give this person hell for spoiling a teenager, without getting myself kicked off the forum. But I had to smile when when I saw the photo.

When it comes time tho, I suggest to do what my father did. I got off the school bus one day to find my dad unloading a wrecked car off a trailer. Dad held up the keys and said "If you can fix it, you can drive it!" Dad probably had no idea that he was starting a lifelong hobby of restoring cars, but I figure even if I never picked up a wrench ever again, 1) I had too much of my own blood, sweat and MONEY into that car to take any chances and drive it like an idiot (I survived my teenage driving years) and 2) I learned enough about how a car works that I would likely never be scammed by a used car dealer or unscrupulous mechanic. I can't condone letting a teenager loose on the streets with a powerful sports car like an F-type, but maybe in ten years, your granddaughter would enjoy rebuilding an X350 or such (and if she accomplishes that, give her a real F-type for college graduation or similar milestone).

Great that you are encouraging automotive interest at a young age... good way to start training in maintenance and upkeep!
