Is is normal for a 2021 R to be getting at or over 30mpg on the highway at 75mph, this is in Florida. Or is the computer just not that accurate... seems far more than the stated EPA.

I believe they read a bit optimistic, but they also came get up there if you are driving in a sane manner, in D, no dynamic mode, flat roads. Motor not turning very fast in 8th gear.Originally Posted by luke2015

Alternatively, you can do like me, keep it in dynamic all the time, manual paddle shifters, drive like a lunatic, hilly curvy CT roads, and you can basically see your fuel guage move

Thats my usual and then I'm getting 8-10mpg, which is still good considering how hard I drive it. But just impressed something this fast can also be so sedate and fuel efficient. Originally Posted by bfrank1972

Historically, the trip computer has been around 2mpg optimistic. But the V8s seem to get better highway mileage than the V6S due to the eDiff’s larger gear ratio, i.e. the V8 engine spins at a lower rate than the V6 at the same speed.
I've seen over 30mpg (as calculated by me) in my 2016R on extended highway drives. For a car that can be such a beast upon request, that's pretty outstanding.

Well, if you want to confirm, start a trip odometer next time you fill up, then with your next fill-up just divide miles driven by gallons needed to refill.Originally Posted by luke2015

I've averaged just under 19mpg for the life of the car, not according to the dash indicator, but miles and fuel added. I drove across the state for a wedding, going typically 80-85, but with points up to 105, and got almost 28 mpg. As soon as I got off the freeway that plummeted back to "normal." Because I'm a nerd, I track all that. The indicated MPG versus actual shows that indicated has averaged 6% high (18.3 vs. 19.4). Automatics get better mileage than the 6MT. More gears and they're always paying attention.

It is entirely possible to get low 30s for MPG in your money, as I've had multiple runs - mostly on the motorway/freeway, but including some town driving and stop/start traffic - that have yielded mid-39.x mpg in UK money (33mpg in USA numbers). I don't doubt that cruising on some empty roads at 70mph could easily give 34 or more of your mpg. Is it fun? Not particularly, but it is possible and from a >600hp, 5-litre, supercharged V8, it's still bloody impressive and will yield over 550 miles on a tank before refilling.

On an 1100 mile trip, The computer stated I got 26.4 mpg. By simple calculations, I came up with 23.9. I've tested my log vs the computer several times and with the exception of a track day, it was always about 2 mpg optimistic.

Very true, but I'm an ******* and have zero impulse control so at some point I'm flooring it... which ruins this experiment. lolOriginally Posted by Ramart

Seriously, I think that would be fun, specifically on the R's lolOriginally Posted by Carbuff2
