R vs S
- the whole "RWD V8 F types are out of control" comments are way overblown IMO. You'd think there were no 500hp+ cars made in RWD when the opposite is true. I run mine with the traction control off and even with the stock crappy tires, I don't have any issues. ....maybe it's 'cause I'm old and remember driving fast cars before there were any "nannies". Add a set of PSS's if you are concerned.
- The AWD system adds about 175 lbs and some unknown additional driveline losses....which eat into the extra 40hp the R model tune gives them explaining why testing shows them closer than you'd otherwise think.

I've been driving BMW RWDs for over a decade and had nothing, but understeer. The F-Type with it's super short wheelbase has massive oversteer and I feel a huge difference in steering. I can imagine how wild it would be without AWD with my driving style. I'm a very aggressive driver and I drive these cars like it's meant to be.

Well crap...I'm bummed that the V8S only comes in a vert! I want a RWD coupe and I didn't know that only leaves me with a 2015 R as an option.
I have a Viper now and it has no nanny systems at all so I think I can manage a RWD R. People say the same thing about Vipers...that they're hard to handle...dangerous...etc. etc.. It's not a problem as long as you aren't stupid.... You don't want to get on the gas when you're not pointed in a straight line. LOL

As has been said, 100% software. For $1000 tune you can add 80BHP, still on factory (SVR/Project 7) settings. I'd be blown away if you ever had a warranty denial on that basis. What an embarrassment that would be for the manufacturer!
A little further and we can go to 605 with a tune, and around 630-640 with sport cats & pulley.

Maybe we can talk to you about headers etc. I want to get this development work done, my friend with the 'R' is tough to pin down.
Might be something mutually beneficial there.

Dave, please consider. You'd be doing a big favor for a lot of us.
I had no real desire for engine modifications, particularly hardware changes, at this juncture but in the interest of helping the collective, I will call Stuart when I have a moment to discuss what he's looking for.
Cheers,
Dave

Hi guys,
This is a quote from another member who posted pics of a cutaway F Type.
" The 550 hp V8 was mechanically a computer programmed detuned 650 hp engine. "
R Coupe can be 650 HP !
