A Ford shop would be as competent as any shop that has probably never seen an F-Type, which would be not very. Not sure if you picked the Ford garage due to proximity to your home, or based on the false information you see around the Internet that the engines in the F-Type are made by Ford. While the engines have a few Ford parts (water pump comes to mind) they are in fact JLR engines and not Ford engines.
On the plus side the Ford shop would probably be more reasonable than a JLR shop. If the JLR shop is really far away look for a good indy mechanic in your area that specializes in Jaguars, or foreign cars. I would take one of those over a Ford shop if it was mine.

Saddle soap is a leather preservative...
Don't use it on the cloth top.

The question to ask yourself about ANY shop:
Do they have EXPERIENCE with Jaguar repairs? That experience is what you pay for.
