Re-programming a spare key-fob??
Somehow lost one of my originals, purchased one from an individual and tried to get a Dallas dealer to re-program it. Two dealers have told me they won’t do it UNLESS i purchase a new one from them! Talk about blatant price gouging, they also want me to pay several hundred dollars extra for the programming. Has anyone encountered this kind of “Customer service” from a Jaguar dealer??
I haven't HEARD of anyone getting a non-dealer to reprogram a key. It may be a question of how proprietary the interface is, but, as more cars have moved to fob's, the tools may be out there. Not a showstopper, but even if you get the new fob programmed, that won't take care of the physical emergency key inside. It might be hard to find a blank. I've never needed to use one, but it's something to keep in mind.
i do locksmith and I did lot of the jag and jlr before even 2022 cars we can do
funny to know that jlr keys are one of the easiest to do
some works with obd prog and others need to remove kvm and read it
thank you

My dealer (San Antonio, Texas) informed me that the blank had to be ordered from/cut in the UK, and that they would be happy to try to program a non-OEM fob, but I was going to pay for the service whether it worked or not, to the tune of a couple hundred dollars.
Had the Jaguar dealership in downtown Austin,TX quote me at 200 dollars for an hour worth of labor to reprogram a spare FOB that came with the car, but wasn’t working even with the new FOB battery.
I thought they were trying to price gouge but looks as if it’s standard at all dealers, unless you had recently purchased the car at that specific dealership… then it’s free.
