Hi folks, was out for a spin and getting some fuel just now and when backing into my garage the rear camera did not come on when I put the vehicle in reverse. The screen for the rear parking aid did come on, and was operating fine but no camera. There’s a camera icon you can press from the rear park aid screen, but doing this did nothing. I put the car back in drive, park, then reverse a few times, but the rear camera screen never turned on. At this point I parked, got into the settings screen for all the different features, all of these worked when toggled, except for the camera icon. When pressed it did not take me to the next screen. Then I checked the manual, it says when the car is put in reverse the camera turns on automatically. I’m if wondering if this is being caused by something I did, or a malfunction. Perhaps a fuse but I think that would be odd. We were out last night in the car as well, and the rear camera was working perfectly then.

Something to add - Thanks to this community I’m aware of the gremlins that can appear with these cars when the batteries are drained, but my FTR is almost new and when I’m not driving the car for more than a few days it’s always kept on a Ctek tender in the garage. When I parked just now I threw the tender on, it’s not reading full but as always it will be the next time I take a look.

My guess is it will work tomorrow. If not, disconnect the battery briefly to reboot it.

My 2018 XE had flaky software for the head unit, but eventually, updates removed the flakiness.
