Default Rear quarter light screw?

Hi All,

Quick one - Can anyone confirm if this rear quarter light screw should actually be fully extended rather than screwed in (you have to pull off a small rubber cover to get to it). See pic below where it is currently screwed in as far as it will go but not sure this is correct.

Thanks all

Jo

Back up and take more pics. Can’t tell what part of the car you are shooting. Also, please be a bit more descriptive what part you are trying to find. I have no lights on the rear quarter panel.

@ Unhinged - reminds me of my own recent question on where a rubber piece I found in the car should go.
On the right I think to see the end of the right side rear window, and that open spot were you see that "screw" is where my rubber half moon shaped piece of ribber had to go - don't you think?
Unknown part

And, I think it should be this way... I'll have a look in mine.

This spot - I still need to put the rubber piece in place. Have a broken collarbone, and am not that "flexible" at the moment...
But indeed, my screw seems to be all the way out.

If I understand correctly, this is located on the inside of the back of rear window on the inside. Looks nothing like anything I have, so it must be on a convertible. I would guess, that it is an adjustable guide for the top. just a guess.

Just looked at mine. To my eye, it appears to be an adjustable spacer that is bonded on both ends. I would guess that it is to adjust the position of the rear of the rear glass, i.e. depth of mounting relative to outer skin. In the pictures, the driver's side rear side glass is on the right and the adjustable mount (I'll call it that for want of a better term, but would not try adjusting it now because I think it'd break the glue loose) goes against the rearmost portion where it is colored black.

Coupe indeed I have. Lizzardo's assumption the screw is used to adjust the position of the quarter window to the body sounds sound to me.

Hi Jo, did you ever adjust that screw and what did it do?

I've got the trim starting to lift on one of the rear quarter lights (windows on a my21 coupe), there are several threads on here saying to use the gel superglue to stick it back down but if it were just a matter of tightening that screw then that would seem a more elegant solution

The screw serves to adjust the rear of the quarter glass. It screws out, pressing the glass more tightly into the rubber. It has nothing to do with the actual trim and is instead part of the actual glass mounting.
