Sat in one at the dealer and it really wasn't that great. I live in Toronto and you need to be able to make quick lane changes in urban traffic.
It's probably just fine driving on highways and open roads. But I think it's going to be an obstacle for me.

What do others find that live and drive in cities in traffic?

The side mirrors provide a good rearward view. Smaller back window not an issue for me.

I'd think one would get used to it.

 

Bingo...I test drove one and it was certainly what I'd call limited...especially when the spoiler was in the up position...but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

 

I live in San Francisco, which has high congestion, bad roads, a LOT of blind corners and yeah.....hills.

I haven't had a problem with visibility, but for city driving I think the vision pack is absolutely critical. I'd have a really hard time without it in SF....especially when reversing out of parking spots since the rear peripheral vision at driver's "5 o'clock and 7 o'clock" is basically zero.

 

I find it ok in city traffic.. side mirrors are fine and as well my side mirrors have the yellow symbol to warn if someone is in my blind spot.. I don't remember if its optional or not. Others have said vision pack. Yes, get that.

Thanks everyone. Yes, it looks like the Vision Pack is a necessity for the blind spot monitoring. Can anyone tell me how it works? Does it just use the outward rear bumper sensor or ?

 

Is Boston with the convertible top up/down, I used the vision pack constantly and it saved me a few times.

My coupe (here today or tomorrow, fingers crossed), has that as well.

My loaner Land Rover doesn't have it, and it makes me realize how much I was spoiled by it.

Im not sure if it only uses the rear sensors, it does a great job of alerting to cars in tg the next lane. The image blinks for fast movin cars (passing), and stays solid for cars sittng next to you. It doesnt turn off until the car is past the front bumper.

 

I was amazed at the difference in rear visibility between the original XK8 Coupe and the current XK Coupe which is considerably more restricted so it was the first thing I checked on the F-Type Coupe after the luggage capacity as it's a serious contender for my next replacement.

Like others have said, I'm sure I could get used to even less rear visibility on the F-Type Coupe.

However, I've recently returned from 5K miles touring in Continental Europe with my RHD XK Coupe on the 'wrong' side of the road. It was very difficult at times checking behind when overtaking or at junctions and I think the F-Type Coupe could be extending 'difficult' to a 'lottery'.

I've driven a variety of RHD cars more than 65K miles in Europe over the last few years with no problems but am left wondering if with the F-Type, Jaguar have built a coupe to shave a few seconds off the time to the golf club or a serious high performance continental tourer. Perhaps they'd like to lend me one to find out!

I am usually not a big fan of electronic nannies, yet I have to say the Blind Spot Monitoring is very cool. Yesterday in Los Angeles rush hour traffic it demonstrated its worth a couple of times. . . Rear view visibility in the coupe is fine on the open road.
