Default Replacement Key

Hi All - I bought a 14 F-type privately, it only came with one key. Any ideas how to get a decent priced second key?

I’m in the US and was able to get a good remote key for my 2014 off EBay, then had it programmed by my dealer. I do not know but assume US and UK fobs use different frequencies, so confirm your need.

You should also check your existing fob to confirm the metal emergency key is tucked inside. To access that key, grab the chrome side of your Fob and slide it towards one end or the other, then remove to see if a metal key is snapped in place to the black part of the fob.

I just bought a used on (2014) and my dealer suggested I order one of these:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-201...QAAOSw8NlcueQc

This brand and seller specifically. They said it should be easy to program by a locksmith and be much less expensive that ordering new.

I ordered one yesterday, I'll post up how it goes.

Unfortunately, they only seem to offer a fob for 2014-15 models.

They might have the others, it's worth sending them a question on Ebay

Your experience will vary GREATLY.

I only had one key (two were programmed) due to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding how I got my F. I went on ebay and purchased a factory (very important!!) key with the factory part numbers, stickers etc. still on it for $125.

The dealer near me refused to use outside parts or keys, and wanted $555 for the key plus programming. I was able to find a local auto locksmith who had the tool necessary to program the new key for a whopping $75. That dealer can stuff it as far as I'm concerned.

You *may* be able to find a knock-off key that *might* work. My recommendation is to buy an OEM key, I think there's a difference in the frequency that the keys operate on from year to year. I believe my 2015 required a 315mhz key, which should be good for all F types 14-20. I did notice when researching that there were other frequencies available, make sure you get 315mhz.

The link posted above looks very similar to the key I got, in the plastic bags with factory part numbers on it.

Okay, I'll seek some advice on an vinyl interior surface treatment...dash, door panels, etc. I don't like shiny and can't find the Jaguar brand wipes that came with my car, which I found to be perfect: picked up the dust, removed smudges and left no shine.
What do you suggest?

That eBay key worked great! Dealer had no trouble programming it for me. Charged me $164.
