Default Replacement windscreens in the parts channel?

So, a random, recently off-roading Jeep threw a stone off its treads at my heated front windscreen and cracked it. The car's not out of service, but it's bad enough that it's a distraction in bright sunlight.

I've been waiting nigh-on three months now, for one to become available for my insurance company to replace it.

Is anyone else experiencing similar problems with windscreens/parts availability in general, or am I just not bitching loudly enough or to the right people?

Chris

Apparently the glass company gave up trying to source the glass a while back and forgot to tell me. Trying another company. Grumble.

Hey Chris,

How big is the chip? I've had a rock chip on my Evoque filled and you can't even see it was ever there. $65. And it's the same heated windscreen concept. If the crack isn't too long and the spider not too big, might be worth looking into

It took 3 weeks for my coupe with a heated windshield. First one came in broken so it was 3 weeks each time from dealership.

The crack was about 3/4 of an inch. They tried fixing it first. Unfortunately there were two big chips as well as the crack, and the repair is just visible enough to be very distracting in bright sunlight.

Thanks!

That's very encouraging! Hopefully this will be my experience with the second glass company. At first they said that the screen was in stock, but later admitted that that was a "system error" and that they did have to order it. I'll keep my fingers crossed this time around.

Thanks,

Chris
