Thumbs up review on porterfield r4-s brake pads

loved everything about my 2014 f type v6s when i purchased it except for the brake dust...my god the stock pads brake dust everywhere...so after much debate went with the porterfield r4-s street compound.wow...no brake dust i mean like nothing, fantastic braking performance better than the stock pads.so if your in the market for dustless performance street pads look no further than the r4-s pads...you will not be disappointed.

Yep, those Powerstops have a great following on the Corvette Forum for a dust free, but great braking, street application. Another one that’s become very popular, are the Powerstop Z26 pads. Claimed by many to be every bit as good as the Porterfields. I had the Z26’s installed on my’16 Z06 and ‘16 Challenger Hellcat. They were great! Completely dust free, stopped exceptionally well and priced very inexpensive. All 4 wheels under $150. Don’t know if they have an application for an F type, but if they do, I’d get them, for sure! I got mine thru Summit Racing, but I believe Amazon has them as well.

So far, the only alternatives I have found for F-Type pads are OEM, EBC and Porterfield. If there are others out there, please let us know.

Are there any negatives to the Porterfields compared to OEM? I will need new pads soon and less dust sounds great.

I've had the Porterfield pads on now for 9 months and around 5,000 miles and I agree 95% with the OP, the only difference being that they aren't zero dust they are low dust.
About 1/4 the dust of the OEM pads I reckon, and a lighter grey colour than the almost black OEM dust.
Another bonus is the OEM pads tend to chew through the OEM rotors fairly quickly but these Porterfields have barely touched the rotors, I can't see or feel any wear on them at all (albeit they are after-market Chinese rotors not OEM).

truly, on the Powerstop Z26 pads, your best way of finding out would be to Google Powerstop Brake Pads and/ or Summit Racing. Ask either or both of them if they have pads for the F type.

At this point, no longer worth the effort for me. Have a full set of Porterfields sitting on my desk waiting for the Wortec rotors to be shipped. BTW... where are those?

With one exception - there are lots and lots of after market options for the stock front brakes pads on the "base" F-Type, the 355 mm ones, as they are identical to the 355 mm front brakes fitted to many other JLR products.
However there are very few options for the F-Type 326 mm rear brakes as they are not the same as the 326 mm rear brakes on other JLR products, due to the integrated EPB motors on the F-Type brakes.

Based on this and other threads I've ordered the R4-S pads for the upcoming Wortec brake upgrade.

I also have a set of Porterfields sitting here waiting to be installed, but waiting on my Wortec rotors.

Where are you guys ordering your front and rear Porterfield R4S pads from? And are you swapping out or upgrading your brake fluid at the same time?

I ordered mine through VelocityAP because Stuart is active here. I try to support the supporters.

I hadn't thought about fluid change. My car is coming up for service soon and I was considering waiting until after that to swap the brakes. I'm not sure if a fluid change is part of the 3-year service. I'll have to check the owner's manual.

Yes, a brake fluid change is part of the 3 year service.

with brake fluid change, what is the recommended fluid?

Any upgraded fluids from there? Street driving!

How much fluid should it take to change, any special method to changing fluid? pumps or special equipment needed, anything?

Thanks
