Spoiler alert. My sentiments exactly. The F-Type will lose every comparison against 911s, Corvettes, etc. But you still want one.

Review was pretty spot-on...even the point about the dash and outdated electronics.

Seems that they also found the Coupe R to be slower around their test track than the V8S. The same as Motortrend.

Good catch. The Coupe R a little slower than the Vert V8S around the motown mile. Too much power/torque? Anybody know the tires on the V8S are the same? Wondering if the R just needs wider tires in the back?

Im at a Jag dealer as I type--- the V8S here and the Type R both have Pirelli Pzero 295x30x20 tires.

At least the Type R traps faster and has a better 0-100 time amongst other metrics.

The review was spot on, even to a large extent for the V6 cars. I've owned plenty of cars capable of outperforming this one, but it has a certain "character" and "quirkiness" that is just plain fun. The last time I felt this way about a car and it's "fun quotient" was my Lotus Elise, which was horribly flawed in many ways, but damned if it wasn't the most fun thing I've ever driven.

Would love to see a magazine put on some 305 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R on the Jag to see how much it'll help the Jag.

I'm convinced an upgrade to better street tires such as the Michelin PSS would make a difference to both of the V8 powered cars. The stock P Zeros aren't great.

Agree, when I had my XKR, I switched from Pirelli to PSS and the upgrade was very obvious. Soon as my FtypeR Pirelli bite the dust, I plan to go with the PSS, and maybe up a size.
