Default Rubbing issues with new PS4

Hey all,

I just bought new PS4s and am having rubbing issues in the rear. I was previously on P-zeros and had no issues at all. I’m guessing the side walls are a bit different and that is what is causing the issue.

my setup is:
H&R springs
15mm spacers
20” Gyros
255/35/20
295/30/20

Has anyone else had this issue, and what size spacer are you running to make these fit without rubbing?

That’s not supposed to rub at all, how is your alignment on the rear?

FR500GT had 305's on his which I guess might be similar to 295s and 10mm spacers, he said no rubbing https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f-type-x152-72/new-vorsteiner-wheels-installed-203620/.

I have 305s on the rear of mine and I would have thought they would rub if it was lowered.

My set-up is similar and zero rubbing:
VAP springs 7/8" drop vs H&R which I think are 1.25" drop so advantage me
20 mm spacers on the rear so advantage you
20" Blades so no difference
Exact same tyre sizes and also MPS4S so no difference.

Yes the same size P-Zeros apparently have a skinnier footprint than the Michies.
I'm with Ray Ray, I suspect your wheel alignment is a bit out.

Ray Ray, that is exactly what I thought too. I am going to be taking it to get realigned this week to see if that helps.

I will keep you guys posted. Thanks for the info.

I'm surprised no one knows that tires measurements are not regulated in the tire industry. Short of your alignment being off, the Michelin PS4 is significantly wider than the Pirelli PZeros even though they are both 295.

For example:
Michelin PS 4S 295/30/20 has an actual measured width of 11.1" or 281mm
Michelin PS 4S 305/30/20 has an actual measured width of 11.2" or 284mm
Pirelli PZero 295/30/20 has an actual measured width of 10.1" or 256mm
Pirelli PZero 305/30/20 has an actual measured width of 10.8" or 274mm

Another consideration is that even though a specific tire size can be mounted on an approved rim, that does not mean better handling:
Using a Pirelli 305 (274MM) tire as a an example, it is rated to be mounted on a rim from 10.5-11.5 inches
- If mounted on a narrower rim (10.5" or 266mm), you'll have 8mm of shoulder roll when you corner (274mm-266mm)
- If mounted on a wider rim (11" or 280mm) you'll have 6 mm of shoulder roll when you corner (280mm-274mm)

that’s good info! There is also tread width which is different than the actual width, and the increment is not necessarily linear with each printed width increase, say 275 to 285 might be a 12mm increase, while 285 to 295 might only be 5mm.

But 295 ps4s is very popular and have been proven to work with 17mm spacer without rubbing, with or without lowering. That’s why alignment is the first thing that popped into my head.

Though at the rear you’d have to really screw the toe to have a camber that causes rubbing, as the only thing adjustable is the toe link.
