Default Sealskin car covers stay away

Hi all,

I just want to give a heads up to anyone that may be looking at car covers. I purchased a car cover for my F Type from Sealskin. I bought their best 5 layer all weather cover.
Well the cover came in and it is the worst piece of Junk I have ever seen. It's the equivalent of what my gas grill cover is made of. The material looks nothing like what their web site shows for the
Cover I ordered. It also appears to be an Oxgord brand cover. Which is just a cheap Chinese made product that can be bought on amazon for $60. This was a bait and switch. Their web site also say it was to come with a cable and lock and it
did not.

So I usually am better at my research but this time I let my guard down and ordered based o their web site. My bad. I wouldn't put this cover on my gas grill.

Anyway I am probably out $125. But lesson learned I hope this saves a few other from buy this POS.

Thanks for the warning. I’m about to start looking to buy one. Let me know what your research turns up

For a decent outdoor car cover, you are looking in the $300-500 range. I have one of the following for my Alfa and would highly recommend the brand:

https://www.coverking.com/vehicle-co...-f-type-s.html

They are custom made so it will take a few weeks to receive.

Jake, I don’t believe you can advertise on here but maybe a very nice discount code for members to scoop up a cover of yours would be allowed.

I just bought the Coverking Autobody Armor cover a month ago, and I'm very pleased. It's a custom pattern but it's not like... truly tailored. It fits really well but is a little bunched up at the mirrors because I'm sure they used the CAD files with the mirror extended, rather than folded. But I'm being really nitpicky.

You can buy it from their site
https://www.coverking.com/vehicle-co...-f-type-s.html
But you should also look around, as they're available through other retailers sometimes for less than list.

That said I researched a ton before I went with them. I had it narrowed down to a few Coverking and a few Covercraft covers. There were a lot of variables I considered, and in the end my priorities were dust and ding protection but at a reasonable physical size when stowed. UV protection was secondary.

So this one DOES have the fleece liner in it? I liked that with the one I had for my camaro.

i went with cover king as well and as you stated it fits fairly good except around the mirrors. Elastic around the bottom hold the cover really well but not difficult to put on. I got the silvergaurd plus version. Didn’t get it direct from them.

Just an Update. I did return the cover that I purchased from seal skin. They did take the cover back and refunded me all but a 20% restocking fee.
I had read online that they were difficult to get refunds from. I did not find that. I was not going to argue over the restock fee as I was happy to get 80% back.

I will reiterate that I would stay away from them as they have a very cheap product that they appear to be rebranding and selling as their own.

I bought a covercraft evolution cover quality seems to be very good. I bought that model as it had the best uv protection.

I don't have one for my Jag, but my Coverking fits like a glove on my 4C (even around the mirrors). Bummer the F-Type isn't the same "exact fit".

I bought the OEM cover and didn’t like it, I returned it and got the Coverking. I wanted just an indoor cover. Soft like it is giving the jag a nice hug. I like it. I do think they cost a little much and it is not made right around the mirrors.

Are there car covers / a blanket that has beefier thickness and protection? I'm in a tight 2 car garage and keep finding small dings on my rear quarter panel (probably due to the rear doors of the Subaru next to me). Any suggestions? I actually bought foam liner and planning on glueing clothe to make a bumper blanket but thats alot of work.

yup. I only looked deeply at the two most popular brands (coverking and covercraft) but they both have thicker covers meant to protect against dings. They end up being pretty bulky when packed away though. One of the companies even has a cover made of moving blanket material, but i think that’s meant for long term storage
