Default Searching for an F-type R and see two different high end audio choices

Ok, so the audio upgrade I'm seeing is 770w but occasionally I see 825w. Was there really and 825w version of the upgraded unit?

Thanks,

825? That's new I've only ever heard of the 770 and the 380. Is it perhaps a non-Jag dealer advertising?

Correct, no such thing as a 825w F-Type sound system, at least not stock.
But there was an optional 825w system in the XF and I think the XK so maybe that is where that came from?

The data that populates the search applications is often times wrong. 825 is the surround option on the F Pace.
Two things: I certainly wouldn't choose one F Type over the other based on "Surround" or not. They both suck. Get the car you like and plan to do an aftermarket upgrade.
And B) Don't narrow the search options too much. You'll miss some available cars. When searching for a Pace a couple years ago I needed Adaptive and had to go through all the available cars and look at the grills for the telltale radar rectangle. Selecting adaptive gave very erroneous results.

And if you are looking for a convertible, don't even consider the sound system.
You won't be able to tell the difference with the roof open or closed.
But the car sounds great either way!!

Either that is a mistake or JLR updated the surround sound system on the 2023 from 770W to 825W. I suspect mistake is more likely than update.
Not that the rated Watts means much anyway.

Agree that it's a mistake. The only options were 380W and 770W. And JLR stopped offering the 770W around July 2022 for its later 2023 builds due to the chip shortage (none of the early 2024s have it as an option either).

I have the 770, but don't use it. The exhaust note of my 21 FTR is the only music I listen to.

Much appreciated!

I have a car to sell before I can pick one up. All I see are grey, black, and white with an occasional red (and currently only one yellow left from coast to coast). The 2017 Chevy SS with an LS3 and 600 whp is now all polished up. I'm taking pics this weekend and putting it out there. Only pain is that I'm in CA and it's a niche car. I hope there is still an F-type left (I really don't want to lose the $30k+ over a low mileage 2021, 2022).

I would echo that the surround sound system difference isn't great on the F type. I have the 770 upgraded on my SVR but to be honest it's massively let down by cabin acoustics and terrible panel vibration. I had the upgraded in my 2010 XF and it was amazing. So it's a disappointment. But - exhaust note more than makes up for it!

May I ask why? That's highly disappointing. One reason to consider the Jag is I've always been amazed at my brother's Meridian sound systems on his Land Rover Sports (he has an SVR now). A review by 'SavageGeese' said the same thing about even the upgraded surround one. And a friend who owned a 2016 R (also with the surround system) said the same thing, but he had to go, so couldn't ask him why exactly. I was hoping it was updated with the 2020 refresh, but guess those hopes vanished now. And then dealers dropping Jaguar (just service and used cars) is another reason I'll have to think long and hard if I should buy a P450 RWD, especially a new one. Or maybe get a pristine used one. My other option is a Cayman S 2.5T fully loaded, which would cost more than a Jag, and really prefer a V8. Just want something reliable, and with a nice sound system. Thank you.

The stock system, at any level, is sub-par in the F-type for all model years.

The F-Type cabin is no concert hall. But I find those four speakers at the back makes up for that.

If you're hankering for NA V8 have a look at the now discontinued XK range - proper GT cars (and the XKR is supercharged).

I'd say probably the former. The actual window sticker of a local '23 P450 RWD shows it as 770W for $900. And the build date was 3/22. They can't sell Jaguar anymore as of 8/1, so they're sending that car back to Jaguar. But for that small extra charge, either the difference with the 380W system is minor, or a heck of a deal, no? The upgraded Meridian system on Land Rovers is at least 4 grand, for what I remember when my brother was shopping for his SVR Sport.

The only real difference between the "base" 380W system and the "surround sound" 770W system is the front centre speaker (in the central vent housing, the one that rises and falls when you start/stop the car), the 770W system has that extra speaker while the 380W system does not.

I would hope that the 770W system has higher-quality speakers. It claims to do surround sound as well, for what that’s worth.

It does. The settings allow for four different types of surround, and the amp driving the system is more powerful. However, with the exception of the added center speaker, I believe the rest of the speakers are all the same.
