Second battery for dash cam
Hi , wondering if anyone with earlier model f type has used their second battery ( eco stop start) to power a dash cam for permanent live power so the dash cam can go into Parking mode. I thinking if it has already been disconnected it could be used for this with absolutely no risk to the main battery. I know hard wiring kits have automatic battery drain cutoff points but that is letting it drain down first then doing something about it.
Where would the best point to access permanent live on the second battery ? And could you use any ground point?

On my tesla before they launched the dashcam feature I had a blackvue 750s-2ch installed with an ultra battery pack (https://blackvue.com/product/power-m...attery-b-124x/). The battery pack would take <1 hour to charge and keep my dashcam powered on for 24 hours after I shut off the car. Now that tesla has its own dashcam app, I'm slowly going to swap over this backvue setup into my F-type.
If the second battery is disconnected, how would it charge? But it would be fairly simple just to wire directly to the battery. You would need to splice some wires to the charging cable or I'm sure they make an adapter.
I never did this as no one could advise back then but thinking about it now I guess you would just treat the second battery as if it was the primary in a one battery set up and just follow the wiring guide of your dash cam hardwire kit .
The second battery would not be disconnected so still being recharged by the alternator.
