Someone scraped my side sill. It's down to what looks like fiberglass? I don't want to take this to the dealer for repair. I don't trust them. Any suggestions or advice on products I could use to fix myself? Or maybe how much putting on a new one would cost? Thanks.
Hard to see how anybody could just scrape the side sill without scraping more of the side panels.
A possible, more likely explanation is shown in your photograph - a small snow/ice bank.
Would have thought this is a routine simple repair/paint job for most body shops.

That should be a simple fix, and not very expensive. It would require some sanding, maybe some glazing or skim coat, then spray, blend and clear. Because of where it is and the angles, it should be easy to match and blend in. I would think a couple hours labor plus paint/materials?
Agree on sanding (even if you are going to wrap it).
I have had good luck matching on several cars with Paintscratch.com and Automotivetouchup.com, just give them your paint code (sticker on driver's door jamb).
Both give you a card to test-spray, if you don't like it, they allow returns or will re-do the formula. I haven't ever needed to return tho'.
If you are really worried about matching, a slightly darker or complementary color would look good that low on the car. (Like a darker blue/gray, just one opinion.) <--- My wife says all my taste is in my mouth, LOL, so DON'T LISTEN TO ME
Agree with cstall, wrapping the sills black is how the R came out originally, it gives the car more of a waist.
But if you like it as is, the bumper repair guys will be able to repair that on the spot for a couple of hundred bucks tops. My mum was on a first name basis with them, they do an awesome job.
