Default Side Vents with IRR accents

I would have preferred the black pack on my car but it didn't happen. I have always dechromed all my cars and the F-type is no exception. It's unfortunate the chrome around the windows is so expensive, so that won't get replaced, and I'm not a fan of wraps. However, I can live with the window trim because I do think the chrome around the windows does tie into the wheels. The side vents to me look bad in chrome, so, I bought the black version of the side vents and purchased some IRR paint from Microfinish LCC out of New Orleans. I put two coats of adhesion promoter, three coats of base IRR, and three coats of clear coat. Enjoy.

Nice job!

Any tricks to removing the vents? I got the impression from other Topics here, that the clips often broke. Or did you replace the assemblies with new ones.

I was thinking of just removing the backing to lose weight on the car & lower engine bay temps a little.

No trick, no broken clips. Just remove the three 10mm bolts across the top of the fender and loosen the one 10mm bolt between the door and fender, pull the fender out a little and work the clips loose from the inside. I replaced the vents. The first one took 30 minutes and the second one took 15 minutes.
the vents don’t open into the engine bay.

Think about the Jaguar advertisement. A happy empty nester Amish couple rocketing through the NE Indiana country side terrorizing horse and buggy...

Ah well, the tall black hat wouldn't fit anyway.

In all seriousness, the vents look great and thanks for letting some us that are uninformed know that these side vents are completely non-functional. Its given me an idea to start my first thread.
