Spotted in the Bible Belt ???

 

To pull the cross bar plastic cover, does the front nose piece have to be pulled, or can it be done under the hood (bonnet for those on the other side)?
I like the clean grill look.

 

The nose has to come off. Easy job, but lots of screws, and you need two people so one person can hold the nose (very light) while the other disconnects the washer hose and parking sensors.


The bar cannot simply be removed for this project as that area consists of an upper grille, a lower grille and the bumper that spans the open area between them. Also, the chrome surround is severely notched to hold the bumper in place. The Project 7 opening consists of a single grille (larger honeycomb) and a continuous surround, no notching. Also, a pair of custom mounts need to be fabricated to mount the parking sensor in the same relative location as the were on the bumper.

Sounds even better. Dropped the exhaust note by more than half an octave.

 

Two awesome upgrades in a week. Glad to hear the valvetronic deepens the sound on the 6 cylinder too.

 

Gotta have that "U" badge now. I was thinking you could take an R badge, keep the vertical leg (cut away unneeded parts) and epoxy on the rest of the U. Probably could make the needed part of the letter out of some sheet plastic then chrome wrap. Just a thought.

Thanks. Can't get a V8 with a manual transmission. The cost of the mod was just the price of a (group buy) VAP exhaust and some used valance pieces I got from someone changing over to a CF valance

 

I think I am starting to like the bar better and better. Not a mod that I will be making real soon think. On to something else.

@Unhingd. Why would you want a manual ?

I had plenty stickshift cars, but modern autoboxes are so smooth and quick - and the flippers let you change anyway - ; there is no need for it...

Only in the mountains I really prefer a manualbox, so I can only enjoy it holidays. Here we are mostly gridlocked...

 

Here we are not gridlocked except in the major cities. I feel much more involved and directly connected with the car and have a better sense of controlling how the power gets put to the pavement. I find all automatics a boring driving experience and have never owned one. I understand that from most other aspects (acceleration, fuel economy, driver fatigue) they are now far superior to MTs, but just not well suited for how I like to experience a spirited drive.

 

You are perfectly right, you get more 'feel' for the car and -indeed- are more connected, all perfect for a - not too long - drive. My main goal is to use it as a GT and tour western Europe with it.
My experience with the Discovery [ holidays of 6000km...] is, that it would get annoying in cities and dense traffic .I've been 99% greatfull it was an autobox.. Not for the shifting as more for working a clutchpedal.

 

I thought I would miss my MT more than I do. I never thought I'd go with an auto, but MT wasn't an option in the '14 and my husband was already about to have a coronary at what I wanted to spend on a car, so I didn't push my luck or I might have ended up with a Mustang instead. I will say that I am more than pleasantly surprised with the shifting in Sport mode - it's actually very aggressive and I love that it even downshifts on braking (yes, I'm always in sport AND dynamic modes). I haven't really even played with shifting myself really (but then to me without actually using my foot on a clutch, it's just not the same anyway). I agree that you don't have quite as much of a feel without it, but since I do live in a gridlock area (yesterday it took me almost 45 minutes to go the 4 miles from my house to my office - that's not normal, but it does happen), so I am starting to appreciate not having to constantly deal with the clutch.
