Slashed Tire, Jaguar Roadside Assistance, Scarborough Jaguar
So sad about Keith! I've been on a serious Emerson, Lake & Palmer tear since his passing. (I've also recently bought, and love, Keith Emerson & Greg Lake, Live At Manticore Hall...an intimate setting and beautifully produced). I get his dilemma and his [past] suffering. As you say, RIP. (Coincidentally, I'm seeing Carl Palmer and his tribute to ELP in Arlington, MA on June 7. I might even see DJS from this forum that day, thus killing two birds with one stone. It's actually four "stones" that day but I will spare you the details. Like we've said, Lucky Man.
Cheers!
While I love the idea (and thought of that myself) and/or catching someone "in the act", it's just not worth it. Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm "happy" another car - a Jeep I'm told - also had their tire slashed yesterday, thus telling me I wasn't THE target. Apparently 4 or 5 cars about 5-6 months also had a tire slashed so it's obviously happened before...and I believe they caught and arrested the culprit (and one can only hope - much as I dislike that word - it doesn't happen again). Needless to say this can and does happen everywhere; and this happened in the heart of Portland, Maine in as "good" and affluent section as they come.
Sorry to hear Jay about your unfortunate situation. I'm glad it was just the tire too as it could've been much worse. Good to hear about the positive experiences you had from the misfortunate situation from the tow truck driver with Jaguar roadside and then again at your dealership. Hats off to them!!!!
One of Liz's law partners, when I first started coming up here to visit, in my NSX - close to 18 years ago - used to say, "the Hurricane's in town"*. Where there's a hurricane, there's usually some risk. Including, regrettably, death.
*Not sure it was a compliment, but it kinda sums it up. Nothing like pushing 8,000 rpms to wake Portland up.

Thanks for your kind words.
Best regards,

Besides, literally, my small collection of Graham Greene first editions, take a little closer look on the book shelf..to the right and behind the Jaguar gift you (and U) Lobster Runners generously gave me.

Thank you uncheel...been there - like you, a very long time ago - done that. But do you know about The Keith Emerson Trio?
Yep - but only the CD version. Never ran across the vinyl.
A great talent for sure (and ELP under-appreciated in my opinion). If you haven't yet, check out the Emerson & Lake recording I mentioned earlier...quite good - with excellent sonics - imo.
After 3 days without a tire, I am back on the road (not this second as I type this, obviously). Thanks to Continental Tire (for helping me replace my drivers rear ContinentalExtremeContact DWS 06) and to Scarborough Jaguar for swapping it out free of charge! I quickly went to one of my favorite gourmet shops close by and bought everyone lunch; including me. Like some of us - The Lobster Runners - know, a wonderful dealership with exceptional customer service.
It turns out I discovered that not only was I not the only one "hit", with a tire [as in 1] slash in my usual indoor parking garage, but several indoor garages that very same night were hit with, I heard, as many as 15 cars/tires slashed. One tire on each car.
I do believe in karma.
Fortunately I was given the task, after I got my car back today, by my lovely wife who needed some legal documents hand delivered to some State Agency in Augusta, Maine - the capital - and a 50+ mile drive. Didn't push, much, but it was nice getting back behind the wheel and on the road.
Oh, yeah. And one Lobster Runner had 2 Large Lobster and 2 Large Crab Rolls overnighted to his family, from Libby's Market of course, for delivery tomorrow. My kind of guy! (Although I prefer gals)...not that there's anything wrong with that.
Happy Memorial Day to you all!
Jay

Saw two cop friends today after work (followed by one of my favorite bartenders who also informed me) who told me they caught the a-hole who was going around slashing people's tires; the most recent being 15 cars over the last weekend - 1 tire on each car - and after viewing a video tape of the garage (not mine) they caught the SOB. 41 year old with numerous crimes on his record. Let's hope that they don't just slap him on the wrist!
