Default So looking to get new tires

So thinking of getting mpss on the car. Just curious is there a better tire setup for the car. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Btw I gyrodyne wheels.

Pilot Sport 4S replaced the MPSS, though you can still get both. Reviews for the 4S have been good; there are a few threads here about them - I plan to go from MPSS to the 4S (MPS4S?) in the near future.

If you go slightly wider but keep the same aspect ratio, you'll have a taller tire.

OEM is:
Front: 255/35-20
Rear: 295/30-20

That gives you equal height tires at 27.0" tall.

So as not to affect the ABS, traction control, etc., you need to keep the front and rear heights equal, right?

If you switched to this:

245/40R20
325/30R20

then you'd have 27.7" tall tires.

The car does allow for some margin of error, so you could try this setup that's 1/10th of an inch different:

265/35R20 27.3x10.4R20 27.3"+1.1%
315/30R20 27.4x12.4R20 27.4"+1.5

Then you'd have a wider tire and it would .3" taller in the front and .2" taller in the rear.

I love taller sidewalls, it gives the car a meatier look, drives better, resists potholes better, and may resist sliding in corners.

I'm going to not mess with it and stick with the OEM sizing myself.

Well mpss do not come in the second size you recommend so it would have to be 1st setup any other members running different tire sizes

P4S is the only correct answer. Size is your preference.

There are a number of threads about putting on the biggest tires that the wheels will allow, without rubbing. Perhaps Obi Wan Lance will chime in...

even if you found 325's, I don't think they would be a proper fit on the OEM wheels

yes, 325 would be far too wide for oem sized wheels. you would need at least an 11.5 in wheel to run this.

you can run a 295 or 305 on an oem sized wheel. if you want to reduce the gap to the fender, lower the car. running a taller tire is not the answer.

I'm RWD only, so I just switched to 265/30/20 front and 295/30/20 rear on aftermarket HRE wheels. If I had it to do again, probably would have gone 275/30/20 for the front - think they would have fit and would be a bit taller.

OP - one other option - lower the car (Velocity AP are a good moderate drop choice) then you won't have to go to a taller tire...
