Sold my 2024 Corvette Z06 - Bought 2021 F-Type R Convertible
I have previously owned a 2014 F-Type S V8 and two 2016 F-Type V6S models.
Some of my favorite cars to drive, but the 2014 V8 had to many firecracker type bangs from the exhaust, I like loud cars, but gunshot bangs are not enjoyable.
The V6S models sounded better, but I did miss the power.
I traded my last V6 model in 2020 in on a 2015 Porsche 911 Turbo S cabriolet which I still own, as soon as the CPO warranty expired on what 3" x-pipe, 100 cel cats, and a AIM performance dyno-tune making 543whp.
Porsche runs on cold unprepped streets 1.61 60', 2.61 0-60, and 6.82@102.89 Dragy verfied.
My wife loves Corvettes so I bought a 2023 Corvette Z51 Convertible and after 6 months the transmission died and GM bought the car back.
Then we bought a 2024 Z06 Convertible and in a year I put just about 7k miles on it.
However, since day one it was throwing CELS, nuisance codes, but after my 1st experience I was a little worried.
GM finally came out with a software fix and I had it done and no problems since, but I am done with the new Corvettes.
I contacted my lawyer and GM agreed to give me a nice sum of money to keep the car.
I accepted the offer, but sold the car that day for over $100K.
Right away I started looking for a replacement car..
I looked at Mercedes AMG GT, but that is not a convertible and expensive.
I looked a Mercedes SL63 AMG, beautiful car, but not a sports car and expensive.
I started thinking about my Jaguars and how much I liked them and what a bargain they are used.
I found a fairly Local Dealer (1&1/2 hour drive) with a CPO 2021 Jaguar F-Type R convertible with 21K miles.
Went there yesterday with my wife, we both test drove it and we loved it, a little too quiet for me under 3500 rpms, but I know where Fuse 15 is, lol.
I do like the fact that those gun shot bangs out the exhaust are not there anymore with the valves open, sounds much better.
Great deal, I walked out the door after tax and tags and cut them a check for $70K which includes a CPO warranty until 1/31/2028.
Purchase price of car was just under $65K.
They are prepping the car and are going to trailer deliver it to me next week.
I can't wait to get the car.
Most people will say the Z06 sounds better because it revs to 8600rpms, but it sounds fake, I can't explain it.
I think the F-Type sounds way better.
The Porsche is my ultimate dream car, but it does not sound nearly as good as the Jag.
I did the same thing 2 years ago. Sold my new 2016 ZO6 Coupe with a manual Tranny, and purchased a nice used 2017 R-Coupe and had it shipped from CA to OH. Have never looked back!

I actually traded my 2014 Jaguar F-Type S V8 for a 2018 Z06.
I traded my 2016 F-Type V6S for my Porsche 911 Turbo S
Now traded my 2024 Z06 for this 2021 F-Type R.
I have come full circle.
I definitely won't miss the C8Z06, except for the frunk and trunk space.
The Jag is lacking in that area.
Welcome back! I removed the Fuse 15 on mine and never looked back. I think you'll find that your 2021 will sound even better and from around 2,000 revs.

Shame to hear that about the vette’s. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on the handling differences between the 911 turbo, f type r, and Z06 though! I love driving mine in anger but I keep thinking about that dialed-in Porsche steering….

I am not a twisty curvy handling type of guy, I am more of an acceleration and sound of car guy.
With that said...
Mine is a 2015 911 Turbo S with the 4 wheel steering.
The Porsche is at another level from anything else I have driven as a whole and as far as handling which the Turbo S is not known for, it still is way more nimble than the LARGE Z06.
My son had a 2018 Porsche Cayman GTS, that handled better than anything else I have driven.
After some seat time I will let you know how the Jag is in comparison, I am sure it will be great, but maybe not on the level of the Porsche.
As for acceleration from a dig, nothing matches the Porsche except another Turbo S, of course a Tesla Plaid on Full Kill Mode will waste it.
However, nothing sounds like a Jaguar F-type when those valves are open, whether it be a V8 or V6 model.
I looked heavily at a Corvette myself but bought the F-Type as it had AWD and looks better imho. Enjoy!
Corvettes are a lot of bang for the buck, but they need to get the transmission and electrical issues solved.
My 2023 Corvette Convertible was only around $85K, a lot of car for the money, but only lasted 6 months and 3500 miles before the transmission failed.
The Z06s are expensive, my 2024 Convertible was $140K, which in comparison to other cars in its class is a bargain, but I think there is too much technology in them and Chevy isn't caught up with technology.
I've had great luck with every Jaguar I've owned so far, so I am hoping for another great one!

I don’t understand you people. I ALWAYS look back! At all the cars I’ve passed and who are (always) behind me!
Enjoy the ride and congratulations to the OP!

I can still drive a manual, but I couldn't do it on a daily basis anymore.
My back and left knee won't cooperate.

Will do, thanks!

I am sure if the Corvette did not have all the glitches I wouldn't have parted with it, but this worked out very well for me financially and there is always something fun about getting in to a different car, especially one that sounds like the Jag.
Another Vette to F Type convert here. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Enjoy!
I traded a 2015 GTR for a 2016 F-Type V6S
I sold a 2024 Corvette Z06 to buy the 2021 F-Type R
On the other hand...
I traded my 2014 F-Type V8S for a 2018 Corvette Z06
I traded my 2016 F-Type V6S for my 2015 Porsche 911 Turbo S
I can't remember what my other F-Type V6S went towards?
I do believe this new one will turn out to be a great move, hopefully I will have it as long as I have had my Porsche (4+ years)
I have never owned any other Sports car for over 2 years, but I have a good feeling.

It is interesting to hear your perspective on the the C8. I was interested in a Z06 at one point, but I could never really get myself excited about the base C8 car. The proportions are just off for me. I also had a lot of concerns about reliability. I’ve read that even the latest cars are still dropping transmissions, and there are certain other issues that GM is simply not addressing after 5 years into the development cycle. All this said, I still do have a bit of a soft spot for the C8 Z06. If I won the lottery I’d have one in the garage I think.
When I made my decision for my car purchase it was down to C8 Z06, 992 911 Carerra S, Lotus Emira, Jaguar F-Type R, and I loosely considered an LC500.
The Z06 was quite easily ruled out due to dealer games and availability here in Canada, but I wouldn’t have done it in the end anyway (reliability concerns, trust issues with GM). 911 was always what I thought it would be in terms of a purchase, but as good as those cars are they are lacking character and drama in my eyes. Great cars though to state the obvious. Lotus, yeah, closest dealer 2 hours from me, and those cars are having lots of issues. LC500, definitely a nice car but just not quite the vibe I was looking for.
Jaguar F-Type R in looks and design alone was the car for me. Checked the most boxes for me in the end, and these cars always had my attention from the day they came out. So far so good after one season of driving.
I can tell how a car sounds is a big component for you. My buddy has a 2009 V8 Vantage. In my view no car touches those for sound. Unbelievable. The best sounding car I’ve ever heard in terms of V8s. If you haven’t experienced one you should. Deep down I was interested in one of those, but there were no good used examples at the time, and a new one is way too big for my wallet.
Anyway, welcome again. You have yourself a pretty nice stable there ;-0

I would not recommend a C8 Corvette in any form, too many issues.
I was looking at a 2018 or 2019 Aston, it was around $90K, but it was not a convertible, I did not drive it.
Porsche 911s are great, but the Jaguar is probably more fun.
Bang for the Buck a CPO Jaguar is hard to beat.
Exhaust sound and Apple Carplay are two must haves for me.
Convertible is up there also.
I also have a New GMC Canyon AT4X pickup, I needed a pickup to haul gas cans for my waverunners, I hate fueling up on the water.
I actually love driving the truck, I can't explain why, but it is a great daily driver.
Seems like you got a pretty good deal on the Jag. I traded a 2020 bmw Z4M40 i for my 2021 Type R with 25k miles last September. The jag was priced about the same as yours except mine is a coupe. Mine is fully loaded with every option except ceramic brakes. I'm loving the car and I know you're going to love yours.
