This is my tune , there will not be any VAP for me. Not anytime soon. After all the trips to the dealer, Indies, etc . I知 $20k in on this project. I think swapping coils is our next step! I love the sound of the new(used) motor , louder even than the old one! Maybe it痴 that I haven稚 heard it in a while! But I would hate to mute that !

Got my car back, it has a funny smell, antifreeze/ oil ! I’m hoping that will burn off, no leaks beneath the car! Everything seems to be topped off! The new motor doesn’t seem to be as loud and the exhaust is always open. It doesn’t switch!

Hard to understand the boroscope photo but it appears that the defect is actually on the skirt rather than the top of the piston. If so, it is hard to see how a foreign object dropped into the bore could have damaged the skirt.
If the damage is to the skirt, then I think the obvious conclusion has to be a defective Jaguar part which may explain why they have been so "nice" about the warranty. I just hope it does not show upas a 2021 model problem!!

no , it’s the top. Easier to tell with the reflection in the cylinder wall blacked out. Compression ring exposed because chunk of top of piston is out .

Lance got the favorable treatment from JLR, I had to pay for my repair!
I put 100 miles on it today! All seems well, the smell is fading, everything seems about normal. It doesn’t accelerate quite as good as the old motor, but it will still snap sideways if not careful . It also isn’t as loud, but the car runs well! I’m happy!

How long after a major repair for it to appear on a CarFax report? The only reporting I see for my car is from Jaguar, North Atlanta and that is for an engine check and maintenance inspection. Nothing about a damaged motor!
