Default Are the vents supposed to open with Remote Climate Control?

With the winter weather, I've been using the remote climate control a lot lately. I've noticed that, when I set the temperature and activate the remote climate controls, the center dash vent doesn't open. It does appear to heat the interior up, but since the vent is closed, it works really slowly.

Is the vent supposed to actually open up? Or is it designed to just stay shut for whatever reason?

Trying going into Climate on the touch screen, and manually select the dash + floor vents, rather than auto. Might make a difference, might not.

Yeahh, I believe I tried this already. No luck unfortunately.

AIUI, the centre vent in my MY18 only delivers cold air, so during winter mine stays shut (I have it set to auto, not always open). I've heard that people with convertibles get warm air out of it, so maybe different models have different characteristics.

Even while driving? Mine definitely puts out warm air through that center vent.

With the upper vent in automatic mode, mine never opens during winter.

The centre vent does not rise automatically when hot air is called for but it may, depending on conditions, provide warmed air once the system has stabilized. The fact that it does not rise when you start the car remotely and engage the climate control does not indicate any malfunction.

In my handbook (V6S) it says centre vent will only open when cold face level air is required, so on climate control will not open in the winter. I tested mine by whacking the temperature required on climate control as low as possible once the car was warmed up, and the centre vents popped up. Also, on settings, if I choose face level air they come up.

In the verts it will provide heat if needed when the top is down in colder weather (but won't deploy if the top is up).

My upper vent only opens for 1. blowing cold air on a hot day, or 2. blowing hot air when I put the top down (one of my favorite driver-comfort touches). It's pretty standard for auto climate control to put heat through the floor vents only, and cold air through the dash vents only. Some study somewhere must have determined it's more efficient that way.

It's logical - hot air rises, cold air falls.

And, you don’t want cold feet anytime of the year.
