Default Soon to depart

Its been three years since I took delivery of one of the early newly released f type r awds. What I love is the power and exhaust note. What I hate was 8 days out of service when the car was a week old. What I also hated was another week out last month for NEW CATS, (in an 18000mile car???) and a bunch of service issues in between, warranty covered it all but parts were shipped by the queen mary2 I suspect. I was never impressed by the interior and the knobs were a bit rental car plastic- not 100k sports car. My c7 gs is being built on Monday ill take delivery in 3 weeks or so. My impression it will be same performance perhaps a bit less obnoxious exhaust note and 30k savings. The interior seems nicer though, and no ghosts of Lucas electronics that have been a bit of issue with the tata. I was never really wowed and still miss the 991-2 I traded

A fair appraisal and you are justifiably less than impressed with the life of the Cats or Jaguar parts delivery.

This is a complaint we see regularly on the forum from US members. It's ridiculous that I can order parts at my dealer in England before 2:00pm and they will be there the next day by 11:00am delivered overnight from Jaguar's Worldwide distribution cente in Frankfurt, Germany.

Why shipment to the US should take so long has never been explained by Jaguar North America and it MUST lose a lot of customers for both new and repeat vehicle orders.

Enjoy your new C7 GS.

Graham

I had a 2 day old Carrera 4s in 2002 with tiptronic that failed. 48 hrs later I had my car back with a new transmission that had been fedex'd from Stuttgart- I would have loved to see that bill.

I needed a new bumper cover for a 2015 Cayman S. None in the US, apparently, as it came from Germany and that took 3 weeks+. They said that it could not be expedited. Needed a new shaft for my 2015 Volvo. Informed it was coming from Sweden and would take 6 weeks. I got on the phone and found one at a dealer about 6 hours away. Jag does not have the whole market on slow parts. With my GM vehicles it has always been next day or the day after.

There's the difference between parts availability for cars with as near as makes no difference to 115k+ units sold verses <10k sold during the same period. Also, MSRP is one thing, but street price is another. Many of the actual prices I see '18-'19 GSs going for are under $10k less than what I paid for my R, new. Anyone who pays 6-figs for an F-Type simply bought it wrong.

That being said, if I have the issues during my ownership that you had, I'll be gone from the brand too.

Maybe so, but their supply chain is superior.
