Sales Rep is telling me to order 2016. He claims he knows nothing about the 2017 MY.

Default Yes ... Don't know what to think

My sales rep is dismissing the comment from JAGUAR USA, 2017 cars being in showroom late Spring time.

Don't worry about what the dealers are saying. We usually know things from the trade press far in advance of what the dealers hear from JLR. The new MY F-Types have always been announced in November (just like they were a month ago), they'll start taking orders in Feb, and first cars show up in late March/early April.

Thank you buddy !
I seriously want to get a 2017 model. Possibly the front bumper is to be more aggressive looking and improved NAV inside the car.

Oooh, nice. I didn't see anything about NAV update and my suspicion is that most of the styling changes in the SVR won't trickle down into the rest of the line so as to set the SVR apart, but then I'm new to the Jaguar world and have no idea what I'm talking about.

Default Your option can be ....

Once the SVR is released you can get the bumper and switch it out with what's on your car now. That's what I would do because updated bumper looks more race inspired, in my opinion.

Default Possible updated new bumper for 2017 MY R Type coupe

The pictures are real. The bumper is for the Project 7 car but it might also be used for 2017 R Type vehicles to freshen the car's appearance .

It seems as though the exterior appearance will be changed/refreshed for MY 2017.
Jag is definitely going for a more aggressive race car look.

What you are seeing there is the F-Type SVR to be introduced in 2016 or 2017. It will indeed have something similar to the P7 nose and a price tag to match (US$165k+). 2017 base, S & Rs will probably have very minor changes to the nose, if any.

From what my dealer told me when I spoke with them before the holiday, there are no significant changes expected in the 2017 model over the 2016 model.

So my expectation is that the 2017 model will look just like the 2016 on the exterior and interior. Perhaps with some minor cosmetic changes, like with the side skirts on the 2016. But it doesn't seem like more is coming.

FYI, the F-Type infotainment system was upgraded for 2016 (speed improvements plus the addition of the remote app) so it probably won't be replaced with a new version until they do a major refresh. Probably a few more years out at least.

Hi Merlin,
If If its not any inconvenience for you will you please do something for me. Will you please ask your sales rep his opinion, as to when he believes it will be possible to order the 2017 R Type. What month of 2016 will dealers start taking 2017 orders. My sales rep and dealer are dismissing my question. My guess us, they would rather I immediately place an order for a 2016 model.

You can easily end this by telling them to go into the system and customize a 2016 for you. They will discover that they cannot. Orders for 2017 start this month.

Thumbs up Serious ... ?

Nati,
If true, try that is great news. I'll wait til the end of January just to give some time for any computer update & changed for 2017 MY . This way , it will definitely be available to see on sales rep computer screen as being a 2017 production vehicle.
Thank you my friend.

Hi everybody,

my name is Karl. I am from Germany and new to this forum.
Concerning ordering "2017" I can tell you this:
My dealer in Hamburg, Germany was able to place an order for 2017 F-Type R AWD
already in late December 2015. Delivery date is supposed to be mid-April 2016.

So, I don t see a reason why US dealers shouldn' t be able to follow suit.
I have no information if there will be any changes or modifications,
but let's hope Jaguar does smooth out at least some of the F-Type's well known technical issues in the 2017 models.

Cheers
Karl
