Default Spoiler position while parked

Hello. When I first got my F-tip, I was a little confused about how/when the spoiler went up/down. Obviously I quickly learned that whilst driving it goes up at 70mph and retracts at 50mph. While parked I would press the spoiler button and it would go up as intended, but wouldn't go down. It WOULD move downward about a quarter of an inch and pop back up, as if something was jammed up in the gearing/motor for it. Initially I thought something was F-ed. Of course when I drove the car the spoiler tucked itself back in. After poking around on this lovely sight, I found that this is how the US coupe version operates. Keep in mind, I did not read the manual because I'm too cool for that
My question is, why do you think they chose to not be able to retract the wing while parked?
Thank you in advance for your replies.

I've replaced my deployable rear spoiler with the fixed one so can't confirm, but my recollection is that holding the button down will retract it.

I fully deploy mine every time when parked after washing my car so that I can clean and dry out water that collected under there. As was said, I think the mistake you are making is that you are not holding the button down until it is fully deployed.

Same when wanting to close the spoiler when parked if memory serves…You have to hold the button down until it fully closes.

Cheers

The UK spec allows the button to be active while driving, but not (AIUI) when parked.

The same guy that designed the OEM 'Vert's roof button must have given advice to the spoiler circuit designer.

They both require that the control be held in position to achieve full motion?

That's one of the reasons I bought a SmartTop. I don't have to hold the switch and I switched it so forward is up and back is down, which aligns with my mind. Pull back to lower the top backwards, push forward to raise the top forwards.

OF COURSE you have to hold the button down. It really is the simplest things that elude me. I am a Ding-Dong. Thanks everyone
