Steering wheel button issues
Hey all, got my car (2014 V8 S) detailed at the end of last week, and I'm thrilled, looks like new. One problem though. They rubbed down some of the tacky rubber coating on the steering wheel buttons on the left side, and, really, did a great job there, except now some of the buttons don't work, others perform the wrong function (i.e. the forward track button functions as the phone button). I was hoping it was just a bit of liquid causing a short and it would dry out and work, but no luck so far. Any thoughts? Am I just SOL and have to replace the whole button module?
Thanks!
Thanks!

If they used a alcohol base cleaner it should evaporate so i would sit tight. Maybe ask them what they used
If it was something unlikely to evaporate maybe use a compressed air blower .Failing this then I guess its similar to cleaning your keyboard so ultimately you could remove and clean the whole button module by diassembling all the button covers and cleaning the contact points

My experience with my 2014 v8s was that they were a poor design to begin with. They were very slow to react when pushed and at times you had to hold them down to get them to react at all.
This is/was a known issue along with the sticky interior. I changed my steering wheel as it was cheaper to just do the whole wheel thru Guardian then to replace the 2 button clusters and the
upper and lower steering wheel pieces due to sticky interior issue. Guardian supplies a complete wheel assembly and you get to choose your stitching.
Case in point Jaguar sometime during 2015 model year started using updated button clusters, so they knew they had an issue.
My guess is you would have had to replace them at some point anyway.
