Went to look at a car today, and it mostly looks good. Pending a test drive and maybe a PPI, I'll likely make an offer. But the thing that concerned me most was what looked like spilled coca cola or something in the back under-spare area. Can anyone tell what this might be? I don't believe it's corrosion or anything - one spot I touched was sticky.
Is this anything that might make you think twice about a car? Any thoughts on a course of action? Just use a wet rag? Can this stuff all be safely unscrewed and moved out of the way to clean?
I'd ask the seller to clean it up. A second look to verify that it didn't pool around any of the electrical connections. If a soda bottle was back there and leaked, it may also have left traces on the underside of the boot panels. There's also a bin that I believe is directly over the area in question. I'd give that a really good look to see if something leaked out of that.
